How to do a cost effective hydro assist?

Mr. Blaine I would very much appreciate it if you would post a how to and any other information about a HA system. I live in Utah so I cant just drop by. I have done several of mods based off of your posts and builds and appreciate the time and effort you put into helping fellow jeepers.

Yes, if they aren't up, they will be soon.
@mrblaine I see the kits are up on your site. When ordering from PSC is there a certain set of part numbers to ask for? A certain individual to talk to? I’d like to get pricing on the PSC portion of the kit. Thanks.

I deal with Kelvin only. Or Tom for a warranty but I try not to bother Tom since he owns the place and he doesn't work sales.

You want the following-
Ported PSC Steering gear new with the heavier torsion bar. If you plan on lots of low speed crawling, get the smaller pulley and set it up with the new serpentine that is shorter when you install the pump.
CBR Pump set up with -12 feed and -6 pressure or alternately factory style pressure outlet so you can use the early pressure line.
Early pressure line
Field serviceable 90's and 36" of high pressure -6 hose if you don't do the OEM pressure line.
Remote shorty reservoir set up -12 feed, -8 return.
18" -12 low pressure hose
-12 push lock 45
-12 push lock 90
36" -8 low pressure hose
-8 push lock 90 at reservoir
-8 push lock 90 at steering gear return.
Positive pressure vent

Any chance of just purchasing the brackets for mounting the ram from you not the whole kit as I already have the cooler mounted in my grill and the ram and all the fittings etc. I’m using the PSC steering box and pump etc.

If you were me, would you do that?

Have you shortened the overall retracted length of the cylinder?

Never hurts to ask. Had I known you made this kit a year and a half ago when I bought all the psc stuff I probably would have bought your full kit. It’s a bit late now. I already have the 1.75” x6” stroke ram that came from PSC in there kit and then purchased the 1.5”x6” super short ram that you had recommended to me on another post because you mentioned the 1.75 would be too big. Still have not installed it yet. I had messaged you about the parts to limit travel of the ram etc but never got a response.

You should have just said yes, you would do it if you were me. ;)

Yes, we can get you set up. What all do you need?

Your Profile is empty but you installed 35" tires with just a 2" suspension lift? If you are still running the stock fenders you do NOT have enough clearance for those 35's. For 35's and factory fenders you want 5" of additional clearance, like a 4" suspension lift plus a 1" body lift. And as above, you need to at least replace the factory tie rod with a stronger replacement or those 35's will bend your factory tie rod.
 oh really now? i guess my tj with 2.5" ome springs and a 1.25" bl, stock fenders must be sitting on 33's and not 35's since i can cycle my suspension cleanly without rubbing. two words... bump... stops...

Ooh fun! Can you tell us more about your bump stops.

i mean if youre really that currious... theyre hockey pucks bolted to the spring plate. three of em stacked so three inch extentions in the front, 2 or 3 in the back been a bit since ive had to mess with em.

ive got a good 5" of uptravel. not really planning on going through the desert fast or anything.

A whole bunch of that doesn't add up.

i'm so tight with linkages when compressed IDK if i can even fit it. there are no good words about my steering gear, and that's what worries me most.....straining it.

i'm not cool with listing parts to cheat a kit that's sold by a fellow forums member.
but if we want to work around and figure it out on our own with clues, that's a different animal.
I snuck in the HA with Reid knuckles. It's definitely tight. If i did it again on JK axle I would use as little offset as possible in the tie rod a as the offset made the HA ram mount more difficult and it weakens the tie rod ends. I just bent a very substantial Steer Smarts tie rod end. Blaine noted to me when i was looking to go cheap, if you build your steering around the mercedes box when it dies and you replace it with a PSC the pitman arm axis will be in slightly different place and you'll have to redo ram / stop limits. I bit the bullet and bought the new PSC box.

i don't plan to do any spending toward steering ATM.
i'm considering snaggin a Ford super duty front Dana 60. then i may just opt to ditch the steering gear for high and tight on the axle.

just hopin not to tear up the current gear until then.
