I have a 2004 LJ i got two years ago and am having an issue with the hvac vent selection not working properly. Everything works as it should other that when it is on AC recirculate face and outside AC face it will blow out of the face and floor vents then when i select the face and floor combo it closes the floor of and blows out the face vents only. I live in Houston and our summers are hot so i would like to have the recirculate working.
Have smoked tested all the vacuum lines under the hood and they are good, i have smoked tested the vacuum lines behind the dash and replaced the vent switch and the vacuum lines no leaks and the actuator is functioning but almost backwards. I have disconnected the actuator from the vent door and opened and closed it manually and it works fine. I then ran through all the functions. The actuator closes half way for the face vent and closes all the was for the face and floor, it should be the opposite way. My question is because i have an LJ meaning it is more like a year model 2004.5 does the vent switch change and that is why i am having this problem or is it something else?
