5 Tips when buying a car on dealer only auctions!
1. Make sure you use the free vehicle reports we provide when you register and
add to your minimum buying power. This will help you better understand the car's condition and check for previous accidents, mileage, former users or other problems.
2. Buy a
Market Guide for NADA values, VIN decode, historical auction values for similar units, and a list of comparable sales.
3. Determine title type (or Ownership Doc Type), estimated repair costs, odometer reading, damage type, and whether the keys are included.
4. For international buyers, estimate the shipping cost not only from the port to destination but from the auction site to the port as well.
5. Do not get into a bidding war. You can always wait for the next auction, there are 1,000s of auctions daily- patience is important.

What is a dealer auction?
Everything starts with the auction. Dealer car auctions are auctions where second-hand inventory is sold at wholesale prices. These auctions are typically closed to the public and include a wide variety of inventory, including salvage and repossessed vehicles, leased inventory, rental vehicles, clear titled vehicles, and significantly used vehicles from industries that tend to go through a lot of cars.

What is a salvage title?
A car receives a salvage title when it is damaged and the insurance company determines that it would be cheaper to pay the previous owner directly than to hire a professional to repair the vehicle. Criteria used for this assessment vary from state to state and company to company, and it is very common for relatively lightly damaged vehicles to end up with salvage titles for one reason or another.

What is the difference between clear titles and salvage titles?
The major difference between a clear title and a salvage title is in how insurance companies and the DMV will treat the vehicle. It will usually be more difficult to get insurance coverage with salvage titles and have the vehicle registered as drivable in your state, but this can be partially solved by upgrading the title to a rebuilt title.
