Not to beat a dead horse as I've read several threads about lifts, etc. I inherated my daughter's 2000 TJ when I bought her a new car for college graduation. I want to go 3" with 33's. Read about the OME complete kit for about $1,400 that looks complete and good ride. Besides that and wheels and tires, what else will I need to get done to push larger set up - axle gearing etc? Have a good budget so want to do it right but not break the bank either. Feel more confident going to shop saying what I want rather than letting them tell me I need this or that. Rwallt using it for weekends to run around on the coast - no crawling. Thanks in advance guys

If you go with the OME kit from DPG that I assume you're referring to, it comes with almost everything you need.

The only thing you'll need in addition to the kit is either a transfer case drop (which it may include), or a SYE (slip yoke eliminator), which would be the better option.

With 33" tires you'll definitely want to re-gear. However, you can drive on your stock gears for as long as you want, and just swap out the gears down the road when you have the funds for it. It won't kill you, trust me.

Also, with 33" tires on the stock axles, you'll be just fine. Especially if you're not doing any rock crawling.

I will tell you that the OME kit from DPG is a fantastic choice.

Thanks Chris. Estimate of costs for SYE and re-gearing? If fairly nominal I'd just get it all done at once.

Typical cost for a re-gear is $600 for parts and $600 for labor. A SYE is around $500-$600 for parts, and probably a few hours of labor.

Be sure to look at the Zone 4.25" kit too. That includes a 3" suspension lift as you're already looking at plus a 1.25" body lift. For 33" tires, 4" of clearance really works a lot better. Zone's 4.25" lift has a lot of positive comments on it from the many who have installed it.

Chris's recommendation for the SYE kit which also requires a CV driveshaft is right on. Tom Wood at http://www.4xshaft.com/ is a great source for both of those, Tom has an awesome reputation for good solid friendly pre and post-sales support, Tom is a really good guy.

I'd recommend a metalcloak track bar for the front. I've had JKS (the one that comes with the DPG kit) and had very slight contact with the tie rod, but any contact is too much in my opinion. The Zone kit Jerry mentioned is a very good option as well.
Besides that, make sure you have extended swaybar links, bumpstop extensions front and rear, etc.

I was quoted $1200 for a SYE install from 4wheel parts. Seems high to me. Am I wrong?
