I'm about to bite the bullet and go from the stock 3.73 gearing in the 44 and 30 to 4.88 gearing.

With that being said, are the brands in the ring and pinion market I should steer clear of? What brands do you recommend?

Current Set-up:
2000 Wrangler Sport 4.0
Dana 44 rear 30 front
4" lift
33"x12.5" tire
Running a little extra weight with an ARB front and rear bumper and carrier.

I would say Genuine Dana/Spicer gears that are made in the USA, everything else is made overseas. But they dont offer a 4.88 for some reason

what do you guys think about Alloys USA gears?

They are the ones available over here. Any experiences/insight?

It looks like this would be my selection on Revolution Gear. Between these two for my jeep. What is the difference between the Dana 44 and Dana 44 Thick?

Thick means the ring gear is extra-thick so a low ratio gear like 4.88 can be used on a differential made for a high ratio gear like 3.07. The thicker ring gear moves the teeth of the ring gear over a bit more so they can reach the teeth of the smaller diameter pinion gear that comes from a low ratio like 4.88. What ratio is in your Jeep right now?

3.73

Dana 44: You can use a thick gear set to continue using your Dana 44's existing carrier or locker. If you are going to install a full-carrier locker I'd go with a locker made for a lower ratio like 4.88 which would mean you'd go for the standard (non-thick) R&P gearset.

Dana 30: Use the non-thick R&P. The carrier break for the Dana 30 is 3.73 to 5.13 so 4.88 will work fine with it.

Despite that, do you have any insight of them being unreliable or anything? Because it's really not easy at all to buy Revolution gears over here
I'd be happy with other brands like Yukon, Genuine Gear, Standard Gear, etc. I'd be happier with one of those brands than I would with an Alloy USA though I have no personal experience with Alloy USA gears failing. If your installer has a brand preference, go with it.

Make sure you insist whoever installs your gears to ONLY refill the axles with a conventional GL-5 gear lube like an 85W-140. Don't let them use a synthetic gear lube which will cause the gears to run hotter during the critical gear break-in process where heat is a new gear's worst enemy.

In the U.S., the common wisdom is to let the gear shop supply the gears so that you have a warranty on parts and labor. If you supply the parts to the installer then the cost of labor to remove and reinstall will be on you if there is a defect in the parts. If the shop supplies the parts it installs it is the shop that has to bear the cost of that labor.

I can't speak to the way things work in Greece, but can't imagine it would be too much different.

This makes any debate between Revolution vs. Alloy USA vs. [insert brand of choice] irrelevant. What is relevant is the brand or brands the gear installer will supply and warranty
