Interior Light Cutoff Switch

Hi,

Going to install an interior light cutoff switch in my TJ. Just wondering if I need to use a relay for this switch or just switch the hot leg for fuse number four and use an in line fuse?

If you use the leg after the fuse all you need is a switch.
Assuming that your switch is rated for the amps.
Any issues will pop the factory fuse.

Thanks @Boinked. I have attached a diagram of the two options. I think that I will most likely go with option one. Option two offers no overload protection for the switch.

No relay is needed, no additional fuse is needed either. The factory fuse is just acting like a switch, that circuit is fused elsewhere.

Don’t know if you’ve sourced your switch, etc. but here’s what I did to my LJ to control the dome lights. This link gets you to the correct page. My post is #54

I installed the this switch because I was unable to control my dome lights from the multi function switch. This was cheaper than buying a new switch and I find it easier than pulling the #4 fuse. YRMV

I just wired in a tap and a 15 amp switch. Works like a charm
