Lift Build Plan Review

Do you need the adjustable track bar? I know it's not as fancy, but most kits with only 2" of lift only have you drill the hole 3/4" to the right on the axle mount. Or maybe a drop bracket to correct the angle and shift the axle over slightly. 2" of lift won't move the axle out of center much anyways.

If all you're planning on is running 33" tires, you would be fine building your Dana 35 rear end with a Super 35 kit from Revolution Gear.

Check out this thread here: Should I upgrade my Dana 35 axle?

Once upon a time, I would have probably told people to scrap their 35 and get a Dana 44. However, @mrblaine has showed us that you can indeed have a built Dana 35 that will easily accommodate 33" tires and most of anything you throw at it.

I wasn't all that crazy about the idea of drilling that hole. I have an OEM trackbar and for all the money I am putting into this upgrade whats another $200? (other than a different part :))

That auto on 33's will wear on you. Consider 31's and loose the BL?

I have 31x10.5 now I want to go bigger. Ill disable OD which should help. This is my toy it's not a DD so on the days I'm not in the mood I'll just leave it in the garage. Most days though I take the TJ to work cause I love driving it. Having a 15 mile commute to the office also makes the MPGs tolerable.

Gotcha. It'll be tolerable, just not ideal. 33's do look sharp with that size lift.

I've been holding off on doing the lift for 2 years. Both of my cars are paid off in May so it's time to do the lift. Ideally at some point a re re gear will happen.

Chris this is good to know. Everybody seems to love the 8.8 swap but I've been told it isn't all it's cracked up to be. I will definitely keep this in mind when the time comes. Up front I can upgrade the Dana 30 in a similar fashion? (chromoly shafts, new balljoints and wheel bearing hubs?)

My jeep buddy runs 33's with a Dana 35, super 35 kit and an E-locker with no issues. Yes, on the Dana 30, shafts, good Spicer ball joints and ujoints should treat you well is you're not crazy on the skinny pedal.

The Dana 30 holds up surprisingly well, even locked. Adding some alloy axles would definitely add strength. Ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rods, etc are good to do's and add some peace of mind.

I was poking around and the Savvy Offroad 3 inch springs paired with the Savvy tuned Fox shocks would run around $900 which is basically what the 2.5 OME kit costs. Is this something worth exploring as an alternative to the OME kit? If I am off track here just tell me I can take it :)

Is that just springs and shocks on the Savvy stuff?

Yes. Front and rear bumpstop kits are $220 total. So that makes is more expensive than the OME kit but not by much.

Don't forget rear track bar relocation bracket and TC lowering spacers. Those also are included in the OME kit. I think either kit will net good results. Going up 3", you may need to address the front Track bar with an adjustable one.

Thanks - I stumbled upon a thread @Jerry Bransford was on and he was really liking the Savvy lift ride quality even over his OME lift, but I wasn't sure if only doing their tuned Fox shocks\springs would net comparable results since its not a complete $2500 kit Savvy kit.
