LJ rear tool box

Has anyone ever hammered a 36" wide box into the Lj tub? I found this aluminum tub the dimensions are about perfect except that is 36" wide and I *think* I could hammer it into place in the tub. What do y'all think? I just got some nice jeep tools I really don't want them to disappear.

Not sure why, it's correct for me. But the 36" is the key dimension.

my TJ is right at 36" well to well. it'd be tight and might have to donk the wells just a bit.

I had a Tuffy 34.5" x 34.5" x 12" box in the back of my TJ. It held everything but it sucked because it weighed so much. Not sure what the aluminum version would weigh by I still don't think it's worth it. I put everything in there and still had space left over. By taking it out, now I'm not inclined to bring everything with me which helps keep the weight down. Win win.

Don't recall. I think I always knew wanted the gap on one side for a folding chair.

I've got the big tuffy drawer. It's only 34.25: wide though as there are mounting brackets that take up the additional space.

Getting a 36" box in there looks like it would be tight - but may just fit with a little persuasion.

The great thing about the drawer is that it's easy access. I just open the gate and it pulls out without having to unzip the window. I can also bolt stuff to the top.

Now that you mention it, mine was 34.5" as well. For some reason I had 36" on the brain. I knew it fit, but pretty tight.

Me too, no complaints. One of those must haves for an LJ in my book. I have mine keyed the same as my under seat box.

There's also a 34" version, but we didn't want to have to take out the carpet. I also wanted the option of a subwoofer box in the future, so the tuffy drawer wasn't an option.
