Looking for a switched power source for DRLs

I recently bought an 02 TJ. It has front tube fenders with small LED turn signals and the fog lights have been removed. Plus it has Cree LED headlights with the little DRLs on the top & bottom of the fixture. I'm trying to find a switched power source for the DRLs under the hood & thought about using the old fog light circuit. I found the turn signal stalk that you pull on, and the fuse under the hood. But the fuse is hot all the time, not switched on/off like I expected.
Is this the old fog light plug? I turned it on but didn't get anything with a test light.

That looks like the plug for the turn signals. Put your test light on it and flip the turn signal, the test light should blink at that point.

I have the 7" cree halo's with DRL. I found a spot under the hood and used one that was empty...they come on when you turn on the key and off when you turn it off...no switch required

second from the right, the bright yellow area with 2 leads. the led's each came with a separate lead for the DRL's, so using a test light I hunted around til I found a couple of spots that lit up with ign. on and went out with ign. off.

Cool. So those two are hot? Or one is + & the other - ?

both are hot. I guess I could've tied the two headlights together and went with one lead, but I didn't

Hmmmm, checked them out. The relays are for the fog lights & the rear O2 sensor. I pulled the fog light relay & non were switched on/off with the ignition.
The PO told me the fog light switch is faulty, so he pulled the fuse. I put it back in for this testing.

no no no I didn't have any relays in those spots, they were empty. you just have to find spare spots and test them with your test light...I have a 2000 tj it may vary by model, year or how loaded it was.

I just bought a set of Halos for my TJ and my wife's JK and the lamps wire into the fuse box and the DRL's tap into the turn signal wire because they are white until you turn then they turn amber. On my '96 Bronco I mounted a pair of DRL lamps in my grill and I run them off my fuel pump relay. That way they are only on when the key is on, been this way for 8+ years at least....

I have a 2000 TJ and my factory fog light switch will not turn the fog lights on until the park lights or headlights are on. Hope that helps.
