Loud banging from Dana 30 with Spartan locker

Wow, your driveshaft rotates 90° while just turning the steering and axleshafts stay stationary?
FWIW, I installed a Spartan in my previous Dana 30 TJ (4.56) and it never made a sound. I also installed a new Spartan in my new TJ Dana 30 (3.73) and it's super noisy. It clanks and pops with the slightest turns in 2wd.

I've had a Spartan in my '94 YJ Dana 30 for 7 years, and I pulled the axles to replace u-joints recently, and my Spartan doesn't have anywhere near that kind of mechanical slop in it! My lunchbox has probably 30k trouble free miles on it. (If you don't count atrocious winter manners that is!)

I think a thorough out-of-carrier inspection of that Spartan might be in order!

Ok sorry it took so long but the problem ended up being dirt in the springs (must have gotten in their when the outter seals failed) in the locker as well as the springs being worn down. All cleaned out now with new outterseals and springs.

If the springs were that bad in only 2yrs of use, how will new springs correct the issue? Won’t it just come back again later? I’m experiencing a very similar situation but only in 4wd. Changing to the correct diff fluid seemed to help quiet it down in 2wd, but still bangs in 4wd.

Hey Layers,
I just installed a spartan locker and have the same issue. So everything is clean no dirty springs and does the same as yours did. Any ideas??
