Lunchbox to Selectable Locker Switch

When they did my rear locker at the same time as a re-gear, it was only an additional $200. I'd think @starkey480 is right if they are just going in to do a locker install.

@jazngab, I'd love to stay with my PowerTrax setup. I think it is the best you can have if you are in a virtually snow-free environment. I can't see an advantage of a selectable over it in that situation. You don't have to think about it, just works, doesn't affect daily driving, automatically goes off when out of 4wd. I have noticed a few times I forgot to turn my rear locker off when getting back on the streets. Doesn't take long to realize, "something is wrong here!"
I like it a lot as well. The only (and it’s the ONLY) thing I don’t like about the lunchbox is when I’m offroad and I have to go back and forth between 4LO and 4Hi and 2Hi depending on the terrain. I have to stop and shift the transfer case. For example if I clear a rock garden and it’s goes to a dirt trail and then back to some rocks, I have to crawl then stop and shift then drive to the next obstacle then shift back to crawl. But that’s the only time I find it a bit annoying.

In that case, same thickness of the correct shim.
Exactly, just measure with the calipers and make an equal measurement on the right shims, should be close.

You always have to go into neutral when shifting from 4L to 4H, even open diffs. When shifting from 4H to 2H you can do that anytime up to 40mph, open or lunchbox. With a selectable its advisable to be traveling 5mph or less front and rear when going in or out.

That’s good to know. Thanks! I’ll try it out next time
