Can a lunchbox locker be installed in a Dana 30 without removing the carrier?

No not yet, but I'm still planning to. This is the first I've heard of an issue like this installing the no slip! Did you take any pictures of the locker making contact with the carrier or the grinding you had to do? Seems like that might be an out of spec locker you got maybe? Did you install yours in a Dana 30 as well?

Sadly no pics due to greasy hands. Yes I have a Dana 30 as well. Probably just a small difference in the casting that caused this. Best way to describe the area is on the edges of where the spiders gears for the center pin sit.

When you install this locker, just follow the instructions, they make it fairly clear what the steps are.

When you get to the part where you rotate the locker 90 degrees to install the outer springs and line up the hole for the center pin, you might have trouble rotating it. It shouldn't hit anything, but if it does then you know you need to pull out the die grinder.

I don't think this is an issue with the locker rather just inconsistencies in the casting of the carrier. I think I took off no more than 1/16" of material in an are about 1/4" high by 3/4" wide.

Very clear instructions, thank you.

Currently waiting to see if I can score a black Friday or Cyber Monday deal on one.

I'm also up in the air about whether to upgrade the axles to chromoly at the same time. Did you upgrade your axles when you installed the locker?

Negative sally, still running stock shafts. Chromos aren't in the budget yet and the Canada/US exchange rate for parts/shipping doesn't help.

Smart plan waiting for a sale on that locker. I think I picked mine up about 7 months ago and it was around $325CAD for it through Amazon and now its $510CAD on Amazon.

Feel free to ask me more questions if you need to.
