New TJ owner here (not a new Jeeper.. had a Grand Cherokee way back 2011ish).
I picked up a relatively unmolested 2000 4.0 Automatic Sahara late August 2025. That by no means means hop in and drive, lol. No that was hire a buddy with a diesel truck and a trailer to haul it back to his place to sit until spring for us to tear into it!
Spring is here! Nearly time to get to hard work.
Been gathering parts all winter as cash allowed based on our initial assessment on the lift.
Poconometalcraft Rear control arm frame sections are immediate. The upper control arms are swinging in the breeze.
That failure point is probably the cause of the rear drive shaft exiting the equation... sheered off the yolk ears. So new yolk, or at least brackets going on. And u-joints... new for the rear shaft to pumpkin. Also new front u-joints as the both have play. Spicer sealed units all round.
And brakes.. one rear cylinder leaking.. and all round has seen better days. New calipers and wheel cylinders all round, new rotors and drums too.
With all the rust around, no way in the world we won't mess up a brake line.... so all new Stainless lines and flex hoses too!
I will worry about the non operable blower motor once it's rolling. I'll cheapo patch the rear corner until a few more $$ allow for replacing both rear corners properly. Probably have to look at the rear crossmember same time.....
Floor pans and torque struts... well, no immediate holes to address. But its definitely in the sort of near future.
Lol, let's sink 6-7k CAD into a rig worth 3-4
. I'm upto $5400 (around $3800 USD) at the moment all in vehicle, transfer, registration, tow, parts, including taxes, etc. Wish I had access to a rig outside the salt belt.
Looking forward to getting out on the trails (in a vehicle my wife won't frown that Im doing it in aka.. stop taking her SUV where it shouldn't go!
