Anyone have a proven reason why these won't work on a trailer like yours?

This picture seems to show 1.75" of travel. If so part of that travel would used by the weight of the trailer. Timbren does have some parts that are aimed at off road trailers, but I am not sure about them absorbing the size of offroad bumps compared to street bumps.

An offroad trailer with more travel on a closed course with a professional driver. Do not try this at home. Just kidding, I don't think there is much of a go fast group on this site. It does a pretty good job keeping the tires in contact with the ground.

Look at the pic he posted of the trailer with one tire on a rock. Based on that pic and knowing how trailer springs work, I don't know that it would ever use all that travel anyway.

Trailers don't articulate, but they can absorb bumps. Having less than 2" of travel on a trail will test your packing skills. Your tires will act as suspension with no rebound control. Most offroad trailers have shocks for that.

I haven’t ever towed a bunch off road. But we aired the trailer and the Jeep down to 15 psi. Jeep obviously rides amazing and the trailer never bothered me a bit back there. It didn’t bounce around all crazy or anything. But I am far from a speed demon off road. There was a nice smooth section with some little whoops and we were going average 30 and the whole setup felt good. Couldn’t even tell it was back there. In the rocks the suspension didn’t seem to matter much all the articulation comes from the hitch as far as I can tell.

We do have shocks, as far as packing my wife makes sure to not leave ANY room for stuff to slide around.

Edit: Also not saying your wrong maybe a trailer with 6” of travel rides way better. No clue have never towed one.

I think you talked about this earlier in the thread but I couldn't find it again, how is the hitch mounted? Is it on normally or tucked up into the bumper some?

Blaine also did the rear tuck and made it super easy to remove the hitch. I tried it to see how easy it was and it came right off. I like how he welded the nut inside the frame so I don’t have to keep track of loose hardware. Here’s some shots of the new back end with the Savvy Taillights. There was a lot more work involved in that little change than it looks like. He had to rework the spare tire carrier, move the license plate with a new bracket, mount a new light mount for the license plate and figure out a way to make it so my backup camera still worked. I am thrilled with how all of it turned out.

I use a receiver that could bolt up to any TJ. But the frame has been raised 1.5” and a whole bunch of blaine magic so the nuts are inside and I only have to remove 4 bolts to take it on and off in about 5 minutes. He even made all the bolts use the same size socket even though I believe one is metric and was is standard.

Do you have a picture of the rear end where I can see the receiver in relation to the bumper?

Went out and got it in the dark for ya. I can get a better picture tomorrow in the light for you if you want one just let me know.

The main thing is it comes off very quick, and when I have the trailer on the small loss of departure angle is irrelevant for anything I would be doing with it.

Do you do the outboard and raise the frame at the same time?

I did them separate. The rear tuck, or bce as it's commonly called, was fairly simple. It can easily be done in a day.

Took the Jeep out to Grand Escalante area. Had a great time with the kids at “the devils play ground” drove through a really cool trail through the bottom of a canyon. Should have taken more photos but we were racing daylight.

My wife and I still laugh at how awesome this thing is off road.

Got quite a little maintenance list piling up of small things to take care of on the Jeep, and it really needs a deep clean. But hey that’s what it’s for.

Oh yes we do. Girl is fearless, was climbing all over those rocks 30’ up. I am chasing her screaming “stop skipping up there!”

Glad she is not afraid of her own shadow, but like 2% fear would be nice.

I have a close friend who's very young son is afraid of mops (of all things ...). But he climbed up a ladder and on to the roof of their house, which is typical single story ranch home. Friend was putting up Christmas lights and suddenly kid is on the roof running. Friend had to go chase him and get him down. His wife apparently said the kid escaped like a house cat getting out, just gone out of sight in a flash. Note that this is November in PDX where things are wet. My friend said the same thing as you. I'll have to go find that photo he sent ..
