MML spacer block problem

Well. I’m gona go in the house now. Everything else has been going wrong lately. Why wouldn’t I screw this up too?

@mrblaine I do appreciate the help man. I think I just misunderstood something you said and got ahead of myself to get this done fast so I could get the kids and take them camping this weekend.

To make it worse This was the last item on my list of upgrades before it was driving again. Now there’s no telling when I’ll get it back on the road.

I don’t see any way I can get this lined back up now. I’m sure there is a way but I don’t know how. Completely lost right now. So I reckon if anyone else sees this and has any advice at all please let me know. This is my daily.

Folks learn from me and don’t be a fucktard. Lol.

Hit it with a fresh set of eyes tomorrow. You haven't screwed it up and with a good sized pry bar you will be able to shift it enough to get one side in.
I used a pipe-1/2 extension and a little floor jack, raise the engine just enough to get the bolts started on one side then do the other

I don’t see any easy way to do this now. I really screwed myself. Hmm. Camping trip with the kids cancelled. Shit.
I really hope I didn’t just misunderstand you when you said they both have to be done at the same time. I took that as meaning take the passenger side out also View attachment 324636

Snatch block your winch and move that thing forward and when you get the bolt back in leave them all in a couple threads and raise the other side with a pipe and hydraulic jack on a block mounting surface

Man I have been up all night worrying about this and reading forums. I’ve read several folks say they did both of theirs at the same time. So I know it can be done. I just ain’t figured out how yet.

As far as snatch block with my winch, there’s really no good anchor point within reach of my cable. Good idea tho and I appreciate it.

I’ve read folks have used ratchet straps. I wish I would have read that before I removed the passenger side mount completely. I think that would have worked perfectly to fix the issue of the driver side not lining up. Oh well.

Here are my thoughts before I go to sleep and hopefully wake up with some more advice from you guys. Tell me which of these lines of thinking are or are not good please.

Chain fall on my steel beam to help support the engine just in case since both mounts are loose.

Ratchet straps. I’ve read that people that were having alignment issues on ONE side used this method and it resolved the issue. It was recommended to put the ratchet strap on the rear driveline. I’m assuming this means on the yoke behind the output shaft?
And then to the frame one whichever side you are putting the motor mount in. I’m thinking this is the way to go.

I have a 5 foot cheater bar and a couple crow bars. But if I pry I’m not exactly sure where to pry from. I looked earlier and nothing jumped out at me as being a good spot.

Also one last note, when I removed the bolts from the passenger side motor mount I noticed that where the rubber is vulcanized to the metal has came loose. Should I replace this motor mount? The rubber itself looks like it’s in decent enough condition it’s just separated. If I do need to replace it I’ll just replace them both with cheap parts store replacements for now so I can get it back in commission.

Well I’m gona try to get a few hours sleep and then get up and try to get this thing together so I can take the kids camping this weekend. Supposed to be the maiden voyage with the m416. I have two days until we are supposed to go. Crossing my fingers I can figure something out before then.

If the sleeve broke free from the rubber then yes you need a new mount.

Ok so here’s an update. I called a friend and he came over to help and we got them in. It wasn’t as bad as I thought and having an extra set of hands made ALL the difference.

So for anyone reading this in the future, if you take both motor mounts loose and can’t get things lined up, here’s a summary of what I did and maybe it will help someone:

I hooked up two ratchet straps to the rear output on the transfer case and ran them above my skid plate and attached one on the frame on each side in the front. This helped to make fine adjustments in all directions. It still required a lot of finagling and small adjustments back and forth but I found that the ratchet straps help and give you the option to use them if needed. We also used small pry bars to help line up the mounts and aluminum spacers. It still wasn’t a drop in affair but it helped. The single biggest advantage is an extra set of hands from a good friend. This saves a LOT of time back and forth underneath the jeep and you can have one person making adjustments while the other person watches and relays what the adjustments are doing in real time. What took us an hour and a half would have taken me many hours by myself. I don’t think there is a “trick” to this. I think it’s just jump in and see what all is required as you go. Definitely follow some instructions of your choice, but it really is just figuring it out and making adjustments as you go.

And DONT get in a hurry. Take your time and think through things.

I got in a hurry last night and I was already pretty exhausted and was trying to finish this up quickly and it only created more issues. Then I got very overwhelmed and thought the sky was falling. It’s really not a bad job at all with a friend to help.

So thanks for all the help and advice guys.

Camping trip back on!!!
