Modern / retro F150

I guess I don't know if it's still true, but they were CHEAP at one point. I bought that blue one for $800 and trailered it home with a blown transmission the day I took that photo, probably 2009ish. Fixed it up and had it CLEAN, drove it for a couple of years and then couldn't even sell it for $1500. :ROFLMAO:

I've lightly searched over the years for one. However they are far and few between around me. The ones I did find were either; in decent shape and the seller was proud of it, or, it was horrid and way more work than I cared to mess with.

Pro Comp wheels installed:

Next up is installing the light rack / sport bar and then the leveling kit.

Then I think it will be done. Just want to put some airbags in the rear for when I tow.

@Chris I see you're not opposed to a little bright work like the everything-black guys. KC doesn't offer them polished now, but those Daylighters are stainless under that black. With a little work, they could be polished out nicely like they used to sell them.

I was wondering about that!

I see photos online of these same lights in chrome (or maybe it's stainless). If that's the case maybe I can take some aircraft stripper to them to take the paint off, and then polish them. That would go with the chrome a lot better!

It's polished stainless, which is what I have. It shouldn't be too hard to polish out, but it does take time, even if you have the tools. If you want to go that route, I'd start with something small and easily replaceable like part of the mount. There's also the option of finding a local polisher.

How well does it work behind that school bus of a cab? Otherwise, I think its OK!

It's not dark enough yet for me to test it out, but given the length of the cab I am guessing the light is going to get cut off on the roof (at least part of it). We will come nighttime.

Meh, take it or leave it, but I think the lights need to be raised a few inches. It might look and function better with the lights mounted on a bumper/brush guard.

I agree on both parts.

I think I may just ditch the sport bar and lights altogether. It doesn't need the lights to complete the retro look. The two-tone wrap and wheels accomplished that.

Now I just need to put my Rancho leveling kit on the front.

My favorite part, especially the polished wheels. Black-everything is just soo jaded now.

Agreed

Not sure where that trend started, but it's hideous.

I don't even know why they stopped making two-tone trucks in the first place. The two-tone look never goes out of style.
