I wanted to check to see if anyone has created a cheat sheet or parts list of what is needed needed to bring an old 8274 up to date with the latest solenoid parts?

I was going to refresh my old winch before putting it on this jeep. Maybe rebuild the brake with all new parts, but mainly interested in updating the motor and going to the single solenoid relay. I know there are several forums that have a full rebuilds, but none I have seen cover the electronic updates in detail. If I recall correctly, the newer 9500 motor will work but needs an updated gear head, the albright type of relay may require a new controller and hook up. I believe the winch is from the late 70s or mid 80s so it is due some TLC.

Anyone completed this task and have any hints or tips? I would appreciate any input you might have.

Thanks,

Do you know what vintage your 8274 is? That will help me figure what parts you need to update.

Unless you have the -50 cover on you control pack or like doing serious mods the 102339 control pack from the -70 would be a good choice.

I actually just got through reading that thread. Nice work and I was taking some notes.

Unsure on the vintage. The plate on mine has seen better days and has a bad rash across it. I can make out 8631 on the model and I believe date code is FA6 or 8. I would need to double check but I believe it has the metal plug and 4 pin controller. I'll check to see if I have any pics saved from the last time I looked up some info on it.
