Jeff's probably got a satellite phone.
If he'd been on a jeep trip he'd have welded up a satellite and shot it into orbit in order to post. That's just how Jeff rolls.
My kid was telling me Apple has a deal with Globalstar that allows newer I-Phones (14 I think) access for emergency use..
(PSA, Globalstar SUCKS if you're in the mountains and happen to be in a canyon. I know this first hand, I use a Globalstar phone for work)
