Definitely agree. Price point is a tough thing to figure out. Consumers are finicky beings.
My sense is the $650 DuraFlex hood they were selling was quickly realized by many as a POS and at that price GenRight is getting negative feedback/publicity, just my gut feeling. I believe the carbon fiber hood came onto their site a little later, and was $999 iirc, as an attempt to offer something better. I have not looked around to see if anyone posted comments/reviews on that hood to learn if it was a decent option. At that price point though, it had better be close to a paint and install option, imo. Since it was dropped and the DuraFlex kept, perhaps it was not better, or the price point was simply too
I think GenRight sees the opportunity that if they bring about a quality highline hood, that is a paint and fit type product, and at a GOOD price point, they can sell more highline fenders. The carbon fiber option may even be nice enough to be just a bolt on item. I see carbon fiber hoods for the import car crowd that are left unpainted. I've never closely inspected the quality, though, but seems carbon fiber in the raw is appealing to some. And perhaps GenRight view this as an attempt to bring back something AEV had which was a complete highline fender kit. Granted, AEV keeping the stock look is attractive to some and GenRight's more rugged look is for others. I like both, but opted for GenRight for the ability to take hits and not bend the nice AEV fenders.
Yowza! Have you done anything about the backside stiffeners that may or may not be attached to the outer panel? And have a plan for holding the mesh in place with something better than the wire ties it comes with?
