Good afternoon all. I'm a new member, in the process of trying to convince myself that I need to buy a Wrangler. I do some fly fishing and find myself on FS roads quite a bit of the time. My wife doesn't like the idea of me taking our Sante Fe into off road conditions.

I'm trying to do a lot of research, but I'm not jumping for joy after reading some of the Wrangler comments in CR, Edmonds, etc. Someone pointed me to this forum. I've really enjoyed reading the various posts and think they will be valuable to me in making a decision to buy a Wrangler or not.

You need one, trust me.

Once you own one, you'll discover what you've been missing. These things are easily one of the most enjoyable vehicles you'll ever drive. They never cease to put a smile on your face!

Chris is right. I prefer to drive my 97 wrangler over our 2014 jeep compass or my fully loaded 08 gmc sierra. Expecially when it's nice weather and I take the top and doors off.

Exactly what these guys have said. I kick myself in the rear-end thinking about how I went through life without a Wrangler for my first 45 years! I have had a lot of different vehicles, and this is my favorite by far.

Hey Jack and welcome to the group. I am also from Ga., just farther south than you lol.

As far as what you've read review wise from Edmunds or what ever, you have to own one to know if it right for you. I've owned and built so.e fast cars and nice trucks, and by far, my Jeep is my most favorite I've ever had. Reviews are people's opinions just like forum posts are. My wife never wanted one until I got mine, now she asks me about once a month when she can get one too lol.

You need a jeep (I'm on my 2nd TJ cause I missed my first one so much). Take what you read on Edmunds or any other review site with a grain of salt. Jeeps (tjs and YJs) aren't known for their creature comforts. They're noisy, can ride a little rough due to their short wheel base, can't do 0-60 in 6 seconds and are not blue tooth compatible. Things like ride quality, noise and power are what most of these site use as a barometer for what a "good" vehicle is.

What a jeep can do for you is bring you an endless array of smiles, force you to drive a little slower and take the long way home, and bring a little more sunshine into your life (literally). Jeeps are easy to work on, can be personalized, and will take you places you would never dream of taking your Santa Fe to. Jeeps also don't really drop in value so what you pay for it is what you can sell it for later if it doesn't work out. Just make sure you find the right one for you.
