New Rancho RS5000X install review & questions

Your shocks aren't bottoming out, your bump stops are because they have been extended/made too tall. Your too tall top & bottom bump stops are colliding with each other. As above, measure your spring heights. They may not be stock, or they may be stock now after having been taller before which would account for the extended length bump stops still installed.

Sorry, these pictures are abysmal as it just snowed and I’ve not cleaned up as I also just moved in said snow, but these should give a little comparison for a stock height look.

So as it sits in the parking lot the front springs are 15” and the rears are 11”ish as best I could see. It’s raining here so I didn’t want to get to wet laying on the floor. Lol

You need to measure the coils first off. The front shocks look to be extended too much at ride height. Those shocks have about 8" of total travel so there should be roughly 4" of exposed shaft while on the ground. First thing is the coil length, then we can go from there.

Yes to the above, your TJ has a suspension lift afterall. You initially told us it was stock with just a 2" body lift which is different from a suspension lift. Your new shocks, sized for a stock height Wrangler, are clearly too short for the newly discovered suspension lift. Either replace the springs with stock height springs and remove the extended bump stops, or replace the new shocks with the correct height versions. Sorry for the bad news.

Oh it's ok, i'm learning as I go. How do I go about finding out what size lift is on there? I measured the springs as they sit and got 15" front and about 11" rear. Not sure what that means. Lol Do I need to remove the springs and then measure them?

Eventually I am going to do a 4" Currie lift on 35's but may be 6 months to a year. So I'm ok with ordering another set of Rancho's that are the correct size for my lift, just need to figure out which ones I need.

Thank you all for all the help!

You have a 3" spring lift. Stock was 12" front, 8" rear at ride height. Then you have whatever the body lift really is. If it is 2", then you technically have enough total lift for 35s.

What is happening right now with your stock height shocks is that there is about 1" of droop, likely less. Your rough ride is the opposite of bottoming out. The Jeep is trying to pick the wheels off the ground.

Ok so after further investigation here is what I think is going on:

This is the body lift up front, it is 2":

Here is the body lift out back, it is 1":
79395

And here is the body lift under the sides, they are 1":

So with that being said......what the heck did this person do? Lol So I have a 6" lift up front with a 4" lift on the sides and back? Any suggestions of what everyone thinks I should do here are appreciated. I was going to go with a 4" currie lift with whatever body lift I need for 35's but if I can put it on 35's with what I have here with a few tweaks I will do that and just buy control arms and steering and such to round it out. (And the correct shocks). Which asks another question, if it's 6" and 4" then what Rancho's do I get?

Thanks!

You have a 1" body lift all around. The grill supports from the kit were a full replacement piece.

Question, can anyone look at the photos on the first page of this thread and tell me if my steering is stock? I think it is but i'm looking at the Currectlync Steering System but don't want to buy one if it already has it. Thanks!
