New shoes! Grabber AT2

hello, picked up the Jeep today with her new Grabber AT2 tires, 31 inch on the stock 15x8 Ravines. very pleased with how it looks and the stance etc.
had the shop take some before and after photos for me. will get better photo on my own to post as well.
they found nothing out of the norm up front as well so hoping the new tires fixes the death wobble problem. took it for a long run tonight and hit some bumps and seemed fine but only had the DW 4 or 5 times in the past 9 months so too soon to tell if this prevents it from happening again.

anyway, here are some photos for those of you that like to see before/after. I know I looked at hundreds of photos like this deciding on what to buy/lift, no lift, letters in, out etc.

Hi Chris, they came out to $686 total, installed, balanced etc with tax. free lifetime balance, rotations and tire repair.
fingers crossed with the DW.

they are a great shop, very honest. They could have easily started to replace parts up front but said it looks nice and tight and did not see anything that can be the cause of the DW. maybe they missed something but for now I trust that they did not.

been going their for about 15 years now, we have 4 cars and never once had them come back during inspection saying we needed this or that. most shops will rip you off for something but not these guys.
last year my mom said her brakes were not working. I took it in and said whatever it needs just fix it. pretty much gave them an open book, they came back and said there was nothing wrong and did not even charge me to look at it.
turned out my mom was hitting the gas pedal when trying to start it and not the brakes and that is why she said the pedal went down to the floor. we took her keys from her ever since.

Sounds like a good, legitimate shop--a rare occurrence these days.

It's nice to have a place like that. I seldom trust anyone by myself to work on my car, which is why more often than not I end up taking it to the dealer (for our Honda I mean). Because that way I know that if they mess-up, I can hold them accountable since they're Honda, and Honda is worldwide.

It would be nice to find a reputable shop nearby for the Honda. I obviously don't like to work on it like I do the TJ!

oh, they did say something was wrong with the rear pinion bearing but they do not do that sort of work so referred me to another shop. they may explain the howling noise I hear when I decelerate. did it from the day I got it last year. so going to take it to another guy. I spoke to him and he said he will open it up and take a look so hoping its not too bad. been reading on that a bit, could be a loose pinion bearing nut? I mentioned that too him and he said he typically does not see them come loose unless someone did work on it in the past but possible. was not expecting to spend more money on it so soon after the tires but I love my Jeep and will get fixed what needs fixed.

she grinds into third gear (bad synchros) so I never use 3rd and so used to not using that gear its not an issue. if I really need 3rd, double clutching works to get it into that gear easily. and I still have the leaking RMS, that stuff I put in ended up not fixing it but I can live with that as well.

yeah, good honest shops are hard to find. I bought a buick in 2015 and I dont even take it to the dealership for oil changes etc and they are all free at the dealership. I iwll only take it there if I need warranty work. they keep pestering me why I do not come in for service work. I said I like my local shop and prefer to use them for routine work etc.

yeah, I dont blame you for working on the TJ since you are capable, my wifes honda, everything is so crammed into those cars.
I can do some things on the jeep, changed out my turn signal/fog light switch assembly, change the oil, cleaned out the TBI etc.just some basic things for my comfort level.

The Honda just gives me no excitement to work on, you know? The TJ I actually look forward to working on! Not to mention it's a lot easier to work on!

A howling noise sounds like a bad diff. I only say that because on a past vehicle when the differential was going bad, it would howl like crazy. But, it could be some other things as well such as bad bearings, u-joints, etc. I'd take it to a shop and have them inspect it for sure.

That looks a lot better! The AT grabbers are a very good tire, my neighbor has them on his 4runner and he loves them.

Thanks.. I'm very happy with the look and they feel smooth and are quiet and reasonable price.
