I have the Hercules 3/8 and 1/2 compact impacts and have no complaints, I bought them to carry in the Jeep also.
So far they have both preformed flawlessly fingers crossed they keep it going.

Assuming you're talking power tools, the red is Bauer which is their entry level line (think Ryobi, Hart, or Rigid). The blue is Hercules which is their line targeted at competing with the bigger brands (think DeWalt, Milwaukee, or Makita).
Note: I'm not personally saying any of these are better or worse than others, just their targeted competition! We don't need to start a power tool war. Choose what you like/want/can afford, and use it!

My snap ring pliers finally arrived. Borrowed the same pair from Dave when I rebuilt my Jonny Joints. Decided i need my exactly the same. Dave has a kit of these but he’s an actual mechanic.

They were around until at least the 1950s or 60s. Although I've been talked into a few battery tools, nothing beats a good 110v plug-in, like the "Old GrandDad" Thor drill I inherited from my late father:

Damn that's expensive for an LED light - even with the discount. BUT - I also had a coupon for another $25 off, so I used that and the thing will be here tomorrow. Hopefully, it'll hold up.
Father-in-law has the M18 version that I've used and it's bright and handy. I imagine the M12 will be similar, just not the same peak brightness.
Either that, or it just won't last as long per battery. Or both somewhere inbetween.

I have the M18 version, uses batteries or it can run from an extension cord. Not sure if the M12 has that capability.
I had someone recently ask why Milwaukee makes both the M12 and M18 platforms. They were clearly impressed by the newish M12 sub compact impact with a good battery which we used to remove lug nuts. We then went to installing corner armor and the endless holes that needed drilled and then drilled again for nutserts. We were using a good M18 Fuel drill when the question was posed. I walked over to the cabinet and grabbed the M12 Fuel drill with a high output battery, swapped over the Rotabroach and had them give it a shot on a few holes. After 2 he handed it back and said fuck all of that. Yep, just no comparison whatsover. The M12 has its place, stuff that requires a real drill ain't it. It is so far from it that I have forbidden all of my helpers over the years to even pick one up unless I hand it to them as a last resort when nothing else fits.
