I don't follow him, but I'll say this. I didn't start
really feeling the affects of aging until about 55, so if my experience speaks to his comments, at 40, he doesn't know what he doesn't know. Although I think I
look healthier than most fellers my age, my body is a complete mess. The quality of life decline I've seen since 55 is astonishing. For instance, on my recent Colorado vacation, we spent our time in the backcountry, like I've done for decades. However, this was the first time that I couldn't do any appreciable hiking. The meniscus in my right knee is a disaster. I've had surgery once already, and currently, I can go about 1/8 to 1/4 mile until the pain says, "sab, you better stop!" Again - that's the reason I put those atrocious step sliders on the LJ - to keep me in the backcountry as long as possible.
Then there's the arthritis, horrible presbyopia and cataracts, and lately, cognitive decline (hopefully just normal aging). I used to be able to do math in my head at a high level. Currently, not so much. I'm seeing a memory specialist next week to take a baseline measurement.
So, yeah, I'd love to reverse the aging process. Sadly, I don't trust the medical community enough that I'd ever go down that road...
Oh, I'm sorry - I thought this was the piss & moan table thread...
