Arizona prisoner serving 16 life sentences accused of killing 3 fellow inmates​

An Arizona prisoner serving 16 life sentences killed three other inmates at a state prison in Tucson, according to officials.

Ricky Wassenaar is accused of killing Saul Alvarez, Thorne Harnage and Donald Lashley during the altercation on Friday at the Arizona State Prison Cimmaron Unit, according to KOLD.

Wassenaar is the only suspect in the incident, the outlet reported.

Prison officials say he acted with “intent to harm.”

Alvarez was behind bars for a Maricopa County murder, Harnage was convicted in Pima County of sexual conduct with a minor and Lashley was serving a sentence for child molestation in Pima County.

Wassenaar was already serving 16 life sentences for his role in a prison standoff in 2004, according to KOLD.

He already had a criminal history before the standoff.

He and another man were convicted of taking two guards hostage for 15 days at Lewis Prison Complex in Buckeye, Arizona.

It was one of the longest prison hostage situations in US history.

Wassenaar allegedly used a kitchen guard’s uniform to trick another guard into letting him into a prison watchtower.

He obtained the uniform by overpowering an officer with a handmade weapon.

The Arizona Department of Corrections said Wassenaar was moved to a prison in Florence after Friday’s inmate deaths.

The incident remains under investigation.

“ADCRR’s Office of the Inspector General has begun an initial criminal investigation related to the inmate’s deaths,” prison officials said in a statement.

“All inmate deaths are investigated in consultation with the county medical examiner’s office. The ADCRR takes situations involving violence seriously and will pursue prosecution against any suspects believed to be involved in the case.”

Visitations at the prison were canceled for the rest of the day on Friday following the altercation.

A married Catholic school teacher has made the outrageous claim that her husband's 'neglect' prompted her to have sex with a 17-year-old pupil.
Emily Nutley, 43, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery over a physical relationship with a student at the Ohio school in November and December 2023.
The mother-of-three and former teacher at St Xavier High School in Cincinnati was indicted in October after the victim came forward about the abuse.
Nutley admitted to the crime in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court on Monday in a plea bargain that had four other sexual battery counts dismissed.

She will be sentenced by Judge Jennifer Branch on June 10, and faces up to 10 years in prison and having to register as a sex offender for life.

A few weeks after the indictment, Nutley's husband Jonathan Nutley filed for divorce, prompting his wife to accuse him of 'gross neglect of duty and extreme cruelty' in her legal response, TMZ reported.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers told the court last year that Nutley met the victim when he was sent to a program she ran for academically struggling pupils.
They began texting after school hours last autumn, and she sent him nude selfies and 'sexually explicit messages'.
Powers explained their relationship escalated to them having sex several times in mid-November, at least once in her office at the all-boys school after hours.
Nutley kept texting the student after he tried to break off the illicit affair.

St Xavier charges $18,130 a year in tuition, plus $300 in administrative fees, though financial aid is available.

The school discovered the relationship and conducted an internal investigation, then notified Springfield Township police.
Nutley was fired as soon as the criminal investigation began, which led to her being indicted by a Hamilton County grand jury and arrested on October 28.

“I didn’t expect to be accepted to all of these colleges, however, I did expect to at least be accepted to a couple of the top schools I was applying to,” Yadegari told The Post. “I think that entrepreneurial accomplishments may not be fully appreciated.”
The Rosslyn, New York, public schooler is already a self-made success before graduation. He learned to code at age 7, was giving lessons at age 10, and had an app in the App Store by age 12.

In his junior year, Yadegari founded Cal AI, an app that calculates how many calories are in a meal just by snapping a picture. It now makes tens of millions a year.

Nonetheless, the teen applied early to the University of Pennsylvania, where he was rejected.

During the regular decision round, he was turned down by Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Yale, Washington University in St. Louis, Columbia, Princeton, Duke, USC, the University of Virginia, NYU, Vanderbilt, Brown, and Cornell.

“I held out hope for Stanford, but then when I opened their rejection letter, all of the prior rejections just flooded in and really hit me at once,” the Roslyn High School senior said.

Ultimately, he was only accepted by Georgia Tech, the University of Miami, and the University of Texas

A progressive district attorney has declined to charge the state employee in Tim Walz-led Minnesota who was allegedly caught causing $20,000 damage by vandalizing half a dozen Teslas — a decision the local police chief ripped as the latest betrayal of victims.

The suspected vandal, 33-year-old Minnesota government employee Dylan Bryan Adams, was allegedly spotted keying the vehicles and stripping their paint off while out walking his dog around the city.

Despite what police believe to be evidence of Adams committing felonies, Hennepin County District Attorney Mary Moriarty will seek diversion rather than criminal charges.

“This is an approach taken in many property crime cases and helps to ensure the individual keeps their job and can pay restitution, as well as reducing the likelihood of repeat offenses,” the attorney’s office said in a statement, CBS News reported.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said at the time of the incident that the damage in each case was the equivalent of a felony.

The chief said in a scathing statement on Monday that Moriarty’s decision not to bring charges is frustrating for his officers and the public.
“The Minneapolis Police Department did its job. It identified and investigated a crime trend, identified, and arrested a suspect, and presented a case file to the Hennepin County Attorney Office for consideration of charges,” he told KARE in a statement.

“This case impacted at least six different victims and totaled over $20,000 in damages. Any frustration related to the charging decision of the Hennepin County Attorney should be directed solely at her office.

“Our investigators are always frustrated when the cases they poured their hearts into are declined. In my experience, the victims in these cases often feel the same,” O’Hara said in a statement.

Adams was arrested a month after Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said watching Tesla’s stock price plummet gave him “a little boost during the day” during a rally in Wisconsin.

Adams, who works for Minnesota’s Department of Human Services, is not a political appointee in Walz’s administration, a spokesperson for the governor said last week. He is one of more than 40,000 state employees, the rep added.

Moriarty has been Hennepin County’s top prosecutor since January 2023 after handedly winning the nonpartisan DA election, but the former public defender quickly came under fire for her woke policies that allowed accused rapists and killers to stay free.

During her very first week in office, she dropped the charges against a 35-year-old man accused of raping a teen girl due to attorney misconduct, CBS News reported at the time.

In another high-profile case, Moriarty was taken off the case of murdered 23-year-old Zaria McKeever after the progressive prosecutor offered slaps on the wrist for the teenage defendants

While prosecutors initially wanted to try both boys as adults, they were offered probationary deals in exchange for testimony against McKeever’s ex, who hired them.

After public outcry the case was bumped to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison — who is backed by left-wing billionaire George Soros.
