Britons have been ordered to remove air conditioning from their homes - despite the country baking in up to 40C heat this week - under a fresh Net Zero crackdown.

Planning officials at councils have told residents to take down their cooling units over concerns about carbon dioxide emissions.

They say AC, despite the heat, should serve only as a "last resort".

The crackdown comes from building regulations which demand "active cooling" is used only after all "passive cooling" methods, like opening windows or running fans, have been exhausted.

One Londoner received orders to "permanently remove" two cooling units from the rear of their property, The Telegraph revealed.

Camden Council's planning inspectors determined there was "no justification" for the equipment, ruling it breached the authority's "cooling hierarchy" policy.

During an appeal, the homeowner was advised to open windows and balcony doors in their first-floor flat to achieve ventilation "by natural means".

When the resident raised security concerns in the crime-addled capital, inspectors dismissed these, arguing the risk was not "as great as those associated with ground floor windows" and suggesting windows could remain closed overnight.

Camden inspectors specifically noted "the absence of ceiling fans" in the property, though this was never a stated requirement.

Even after determining the units were "neither intrusive nor harmful" to the neighbourhood's character, officials still demanded they were scrapped.

The homeowner ultimately won on appeal to the Planning Inspectorate by proving their property already featured environmental improvements like solar panels.

A Camden Council spokesman said: “Residents seeking planning permission need to demonstrate that alternative, more climate-friendly measures are not suitable, and that units will not create noise or other harmful impacts on neighbours.

“Enforcement action in these cases is rare and used only as a last resort where this guidance has not been followed.”

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the London Mayor said the policies kept “keep homes cooler without relying on energy-intensive solutions”.

They added: "Local planning decisions are the responsibility of the boroughs, who have their own policies in place”.

They really need an old fashion tar-and-feathers kind of revolution over there with a few public hangings. We're probably due for it here too.

A Georgia man is believed to have died from a heart attack while disposing of a murder victim in Alabama woods.
The bodies of Jessica Folds, 47, and Daniel Robbins, 44, were discovered June 10 in Chambers County.
District Attorney Mike Segrest on Thursday said an autopsy showed Folds died of strangulation and Robbins of a heart attack.
Folds lived in Lanett and Robbins lived in Macon, Ga.
The discovery was made about 12:20 p.m. that Wednesday in the 1000 block of County Road 86.
Chambers County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the dirt road when a passerby spotted the pickup truck in the road.
When deputies arrived, they found Folds and Robbins in a nearby wooded area.
Their bodies were taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
“Based on the investigation by ALEA and the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, and the autopsy done by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, the female victim was strangled, and it appears the male was attempting to dispose of the body in a remote location.”
“He died of a heart attack while doing it,” Segrest said.
“Their bodies were right there together.”
The district attorney said the truck was still running and the driver’s side door was open. The tailgate was down, and there were drag marks in the dirt from the tailgate up into the woods where the bodies were found.
Segrest said there was no evidence to show where the strangulation took place but said he believed it was the result of a domestic incident.
Based on the condition of the bodies and the fact that the truck was still running, Segrest surmised the incident unfolded the night before.
Folds was the mother of three adult sons.
“Jessica lived and worked many places in the Auburn-Opelika area,” according to her obituary.
“Jessica touched the lives of many with her heart of gold, deep love for everyone, and a smile that brightened the world

Robbins was a father of a daughter.
“Daniel was a country boy who loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and had a deep passion for racing,” according to his obituary.
“He specialized in welding, but loved working in farming and on vehicles.”

A Colorado mother has been charged in connection with the death of her 16-year-old daughter, who prosecutors say drank herself to death and had 173 empty alcohol bottles hidden in her bedroom, authorities announced.

Gretchen Leanne Ryan, 55, is charged with second-degree murder, according to the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Her daughter was identified in an obituary as Grace Elizabeth Ryan.

The younger Ryan was found dead on March 9 at her Arvada home after authorities received reports of an unresponsive female.

Preliminary autopsy findings revealed the teen had an abnormally fatty liver for someone her age, which medical professionals believed indicated prolonged periods of alcohol consumption. Her cause of death was determined to be aspiration pneumonia related to chronic alcohol use.

The mother and daughter frequently drank extensively and smoked marijuana together, prosecutors said. Beginning in September 2025, the pair discussed drinking and purchasing alcohol on an almost daily basis via text messages, according to authorities.

"The communications indicate Ryan arranged regular alcohol deliveries to the home and took steps to conceal the victim’s alcohol use from her father, who primarily resided in the basement of the home," the DA's office said in a news release.

Ryan kept supplying her daughter with alcohol despite the teen's significant physical health concerns, according to text messages. The communications described episodes of blood vomiting, difficulty eating, difficulty walking and the use of diapers due to symptoms associated with excessive alcohol consumption.

Aware of her excessive drinking, the younger Ryan feared she would die and repeatedly expressed concerns about her health to her mother, authorities said.

Text messages sent to her mother the night before her death revealed that the teen said she was not feeling well.

During their investigation, detectives found 173 empty alcohol bottles hidden in the teen's bedroom — under her bed and inside a closet, the DA said.

The bottles included various brands and sizes of vodka and other hard liquor.

Amid her alcohol consumption, the teen was un-enrolled from her high school in April 2025 to attend online classes, police said.

At the time of her death, she had completed only one online semester of ninth grade and had not participated in activities outside the home for several months.

Ryan is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.

TV reporter TRASHES her co-workers and whines about never winning an Emmy in astonishing rant
https://www.dailymail.com/news/arti...ines-never-winning-Emmy-astonishing-rant.html

A glamorous Houston TV reporter launched into a scathing rebuke of her co-workers and complained about never winning in an Emmy in an extraordinary social media rant.

Brittany Begley, 44, a meteorologist and traffic reporter with KPRC-TV in Houston, took to Instagram to share her unfiltered thoughts on her station as she said she deserves a better job.

'Sorry, but I'm tired of coming home to an empty refrigerator,' she captioned a picture of herself sitting on the floor of her kitchen. 'Honestly, I don't belong here anymore.'

Begley bemoaned that she had never been given the recognition she feels she deserves, including not being awarded an Emmy because 'the markets I worked in never thought traffic reporting was worthy of one.'

'I told myself that when I die, at least I’ll know I stood for something - even if the industry never technically thought I was worthy,' she wrote.

In a blistering attack on her own colleagues, Begley then blamed those she works with for her apparent lack of success.

Begley went on in her post that her stagnating career has left her struggling to buy groceries, saying she feels 'like a starving lion in a petting zoo.'

'How many more long walks to an empty refrigerator am I supposed to take, knowing I’m better than this? Knowing I actually stand for something real,' she continued.

'And I know I’m not alone. A lot of people inside and outside this industry feel exactly like I do.

'They’d leave you dead on the side of the road and still ask for a comp day just to sit on standby. Can’t even mic up on time because a lack of discipline. And that’s how I know I can win.'

Begley said she has grown tired of not getting the promotion or status in the media industry she feels she deserves, and she 'won’t apologize for wanting a bigger share of this market so I can actually advocate for people like me.'

UPDATE! SHE HAS BEEN FIRED!

Houston TV meteorologist fired after whining over Emmy snubs, ripping bosses in viral tirade: ‘Maybe you’ve read the headlines’

https://nypost.com/2026/06/25/us-ne...gainst-bosses-maybe-youve-read-the-headlines/

A Houston meteorologist has been canned from her job after a whiny tirade about never winning an Emmy Award and trashing her bosses and colleagues.

Brittany Begley, 44, said she is “no longer” with KPRC-TV after she was fired for the viral social media rant — “And for that, I’m truly grateful,” she announced in an Instagram post.

“Maybe you’ve read the headlines?” she snarked, although she said she didn’t “disagree” with the company’s decision to let her go.

“’I’m proving to you that I operate with integrity through my actions and the emails showing how hard I worked to bring positive impact to KPRC,” she said, adding that “I wouldn’t say it if I couldn’t prove it.”

Begley is aspiring to a “bigger role in TV where I can advocate for people like me who started from the ground up,” she said in her post.

She went off the rails earlier this month in a lengthy Instagram diatribe in which she complained that despite years of hard work, she had never received one of TV journalism’s highest honors.

“Never won an Emmy because the markets I worked in never thought traffic reporting was worthy of one,” Begley wrote.

She also slammed the work-life balance during her time at the network, and said she was “tired of coming home to an empty refrigerator.”

Co-workers would allegedly come into work “only to turn on the TV and watch a team normalize bad behavior: consistently late, not even mic’d up ten minutes before a show, then put it on air as a segment,” she moaned.

“And I know I’m not alone. A lot of people inside and outside this industry feel exactly like I do.”

After her post went viral, Begley insisted that she didn’t mean to insult her colleagues — and only wanted to spread awareness about mental health.
