Ford executives said they have hired 350 veteran engineers — some of them were former employees, while others had been working at suppliers — after artificial intelligence and automated systems failed to deliver the desired quality level.

Bloomberg reports the company's chief operating officer Kumar Galhotra told journalists that Ford had been "relying more and more on automated quality systems" with disappointing results. So the company "brought back technical specialists," and those specialists "hunt for failure points before a part ever reaches the plant floor."

Charles Poon, Ford's vice president of vehicle hardware engineering, added, "Mistakenly we thought that by just introducing artificial intelligence and ingesting the design requirements that we had, that that would produce a high-quality product."

Vermont's Smugglers' Notch, also known as Vermont Route 108, a seasonal road winding between Cambridge and Stowe, will now cost unauthorized vehicles up to $40,000 if they attempt to cross it.

Vermont has for years installed signs, an obstacle course, and imposed steeper and steeper finds for drivers that attempt the treacherous mountain pass, and just increased penalties to $10,000, and $20,000 if it blocks traffic. Future offenses double from there.

After the 2023 winter season, Vermont installed a "chicane course" at both entrances to the pass. The course mimics the tight turns you'll experience further up the mountain, and a sign warns Chicane ahead, if you don't fit, use truck turnaround.

In October 2025, Overdrive took a trip through the Notch, and it’s a tight fit even for four wheelers.

In the past, Smugglers' Notch has caught up quite a few drivers who don't speak English, or who maybe just trusted Google Maps more than their own eyes.
Now, with English language proficiency an out-of-service violation and $10,000 on the line, we'll see if the trucks stop coming.

Florida tattoo shop refuses service to military and veterans for being ‘war criminals’

A Florida tattoo shop is facing backlash following a social media post from the shop that said active-duty military members and veterans are not welcome at the company, prompting online criticism.

A June 23 post from Revival Tattoo Collective in Largo, Florida, read, “People all in their feelings because I expressed my opinion of the military and law enforcement. My opinion is that the military is a bunch of war criminals and law enforcement kills babies and unarmed citizens in the street. If you don’t like my opinion cool, but you’re not going to change it. Call me short, post records from 20 years ago, threaten the health dept, use homophobic slurs. That only proves my point and shows the true character of our military. Thanks for showing your true colors.”

The post added, “Once again for the slow ones the military. Pretty simple if you are ex military or currently serving just don’t come to the shop. You will be turned away.”

The shop was founded by Brady Martinson, who is described on the website as “a tattooist and sign painter — script, blackletter, and custom typography on skin. He treats every word as architecture: measured, weighted, and built to live a lifetime.”

A few of the replies to the controversial post appeared to agree with the sentiment, with one woman saying, “The military preys on underprivileged youth by luring them in with promises to pay for college and makes it sound like it’s their only opportunity to get ahead in life. ACAB.”

ACAB is an abbreviation for “all cops are b—-ds.”

Some years back, I recall something regarding a bakery refusing to make a cake for some lesbians (or something of the sort), and the lefty libs had an absolute shit fit. I feel the sentiment here is the same, though something tells me those same lefty libs might weigh in on this one a bit differently. If they do, I promise to fake a look of surprise.

I think maybe he lives in the wrong country if he genuinely feels that way. Or maybe he likes the rights and freedoms afforded, but just has no interest in the price tag or those footing the bill. Either way, he can "Ingest a satchel of Richards" as far as I'm concerned.
