1st i have a 2000 tj 4.0 automatic trans. Heres the story. I recently installed front fenders and rear side panel armour and fenders. I had to remove the battery to access mounting bolts. I also had to remove tail lights, and front signal lights. The new fenders have 2 wire leds in them, which i will wire in later. After i thought i was done i was going to move jeep out of my garage, it wouldn't start. It always fires right up. It would crank but not fire. Couldnt here feul pump activate or anything. After about 15 seconds the odometer read no bus. I know i somehow caused this issue. What did i do to cause this? I think its related to SKIM? PCM? Ive got a refurbished ecm on the way. My second question : if my pcm is bad or needs to be reflashed, how do prevent this from happening with the new pcm? Thanks for any help.

Check for a fuse in your PDC. I can’t remember what it’s labeled, but when I messed with my interior lights the same thing happened. It’s common when you mess with lighting.

*edit* Check the IOD fuse.

Thanks for your reply. I checked all fusses and relays and sensors. Found nothing bad. Everything works except gauges dont move, no bus, and wont start

Including the one under the hood? It’s a fuse you’re looking for under there, not a relay.

I checked all fuses in PDC under the hood. As well as the fuses behind the glove box. I am a electronic tech and was an electrician before that. Not a automobile electrician tho. My work on automobiles was limited to what i had to do , until i got my jeep

I found your problem interesting. So I googled it. There are several threads on jeep forums and some you-tube videos about it. One common idea is that it is a bad connection on the back of the instrument cluster. One guy said to hit the dash with your fist centered above the instrument cluster, said he had to do that about every five months. If that turns out to be your problem a better fix might be to clean the contacts. Here is a product that is said to be very good for tarnished pins in wiring plugs. Craig Laboratories D100L contact cleaner.

I checked the pins behind the instruments. I checked all connections and wiring. I think it has something to do with the SKIM preventing ECM from operating. Thanks for the ideas guys

Bump..... have a similar situation on my 2000 TJ Manual Trans. All Relays and Fuses seem fine. Did you ever get to the bottom of your issue... before i place an order for a new PCM...
