Okay.....I'll step up. My wife and I have always wanted to do this one. Henness Pass from just east of Yuba City, you take off Hwy 20 at Browns Valley and come out in Verdi, Nevada (Cabela's).
Historically, Henness Pass Road was a travel route used by Native Americans and then immigrants and local mining communities during the Gold Rush era. Beginning in the late 1850s, the road was a major supply route for the silver and gold mines in Nevada. You reach elevations up 6,916 feet.
We'll do it July 27th and 28th. Two day with one camp out.
Anyone else interested in joining us??
. . . Any suggestions for good cots . . . ?
Did you make it up there ?Yup it looks fun I might run up there next weekend

I'm interested in this, depending on if hubby can take the time off. Or, if it is possible to only do a day trip, that would probably work better for us?
If we do end up doing the camping part, I will have to figure out what to do for a bed. I swore, no more tent camping. LOL I guess I will have to look into some cots. I'm not into sleeping on the ground and air mattress's are out too. LOL Can I take my VW Bus? LOL Just Kidding. Any suggestions for good cots or other products?
Byer of Maine cots. I have had my Byer cots almost 25 years and they are as good today as they were when new. They are not the cheapest nor are they the most expensive. However, in my opinion, they are the best value of the currently available choices.
The two best suited to jeep camping are the Allagash (the ones I have) and the Tri Lite.

Check these out, at 55” wide they are wide enough for two adults and maybe a few small dogs, albeit a little bit snug.

Might as well introduce myself here to keep an eye on the thread but I am from the Riverside area of SoCal. But would definitely be willing to head north for some adventures up there.

This looks cool as far as if I was younger, but the need for a port a potty out weighs its coolness. LOL That and I like to be able to stand to get dressed. Yah, I'm not much into really roughing it anymore. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I must admit that’s a top of the line cot. I copied you on the Front Runner chairs just bought 2 of themI am 68 and like a comfortable night's sleep as much as anyone.
Here is one of my campsites from an overlanding trip to Moab in 2017 a month before I purchased my current jeep. I used a cot (Byer of Maine shown in previous post) and sleeping pad, no tent necessary.

My father in law lives in Riverside as well. Every year or so I tow the jeep down there and go wheeling with him. I'll let you know the next time we go out.Might as well introduce myself here to keep an eye on the thread but I am from the Riverside area of SoCal. Hey I’m no spring chicken either, the fact that I used the phrase “I’m no spring chicken either” makes me an old fart. Every now and then I have to rough it for a night and this works for that, otherwise I like a little more comfort myself. View attachment 92960
Mine isn't as big as yours, but it does the trick. LOL
