Between the two, I would go with the KCs...
They can be a bit big so they snag stuff on trails more easily, and the halogen bulbs aren't the brightest around, but they have a very classic look.
Personally, the light bar look is a bit
. It's overdone and it's almost always done to shitbox rigs with eBay bars that will invariably 1) fill up with water at the first rain 2) flicker like crazy on the trails - especially when I'm in front of it or 3) burn down the rig. Aside from the looks, I have yet to see a windshield mounted light bar that doesn't throw a ton of light on the hood leading to way too much glare on the trails.
On a positive note, the windshield light bars make so much noise that you'll likely never hit a deer on the road.
If I ever needed that much light, I would go with something like the Pro6 Gravity light bar from KC. They're amazingly bright and have near perfect beam throws for desert and open wheeling (probably too bright for forest/trail riding - which can be said for most off road lights that high up). Not cheap but I have seen a handful pop up on the local sale boards for about 1/2 of their original price.

I bought mine w/ the big a*s light bar already installed from the PO, its great in the desert by myself, other than that its worthless, the wind noise was a nightmare until I figured out how to make that stop. I'd got KC lights all day.
I'm a fan of A-pillar lights, preferably small squares. They just seem to blend right in with the "blockiness" of the TJ and not be in the way of anything. Just my opinion tho. I've seen shorter light bars mounted on the front bumper about where a winch would go and like that idea as well.

I used to have LEDs on the Muddog. Because of the color temp, (6000), which is the white with that damn blue tint, I couldn't see a thing. It made everything look like the contrast was up too high. I replaced them with halogens and now I can see. As you can see on my avatar, they are mounted on the bumper, so I don't get any reflection off the hood.
I'm no fan of all the LED light bars installed on (mostly) mall crawlers and I don't like the light temperature (color) many of them put out.
Just know if you go with KC's incandescent lights that you'll need a relay to power them, they draw some amperage.

I'm a fan of the KC's. To me they just look more natural on a TJ.

I don't like cruising the shore, but I like my kc
I run daylighters and do not regret it. You have to spend big $$$$ to get a decent light bar that some A—hole will steal.
Light bars are not a Wrangler TJ Forum Approved Mod. Please see the manual, chapter 9, section 5- paragraph b and c covers it completely. Note the part that says “ light mods that were not commonly found on the vehicle during its’ production run shall be deemed unacceptable and the owner may suffer ridicule on the forum .....”.
Basically a light bar is just asking for it.
Now, consider this fine example of period correctness- 7 auxiliary lights, 5 have smiley faces. You don’t even have to turn these on to get attention. Sure kids giggle and 14 year old girls are smitten by it, but like Elvis with a white polyester sequined jump suit with an 8” collar, it has class.
You will never see a Jeep like this in front of a psychiatrists’ office, despite the fact its’ owner belongs inside on the couch.
Basically a light bar is just asking for it.

I'm a fan of halogen. For spots and floods I prefer the color and night clarity that just can't be duplicated by warm LEDs. Now that I live further North I don't have to worry about getting heated LEDs. And damn the amperage!
Only thing I see wrong is the top 2 are mounted on the pillar and not the hood like would have been found on a CJ!!!!!
Test drove a Jeep with light bar above windshield, when I was looking for a Jeep...
Soon as we got past 45mph, I think sales guy could tell by my facial expression that the deal was not going to happen. The whistling/howling/humming noise from that thing is beyond ridiculous.

You can't have enough light bars on a JK. They're not TJ approved unless you have a very angry grille to go with them.
