He’s a kid so he’s gunna want all the bells and whistles.. start with a stubby and allow him to add to it as his preferences changes..there are several options of ends and bull bars and light brackets that you can add.

Evaluate what you want the bumpers to accomplish.

Every year at this time endless hordes of deranged non-driving psychopaths descend upon the area where I live to take over the roadways and cause vast amounts of vehicular damage and destruction. Something that no stock bumper has a prayer of protecting against, and undersized aluminum units would not be substantially better.

After having several incidents during the daily demolition derby, my investment and myself are still intact.

If your goal is to protect what sits between the bumpers, nothing works better than a full width 3/16 plus thick piece of steel.

I started out with a bumper similar to what your son is looking at, and I liked it at first. But after a while it wore on me, too big, too heavy, too bulky, too cheap/generic & way too mustache-y, so off it came.

slimmed it down, the base Motobilt; inexpensive, light, looks good, American made, hits the whole list

except crashing into small trail trees you don't see until they're bending your fender, again

What else would you call a nation that puts minorities in concentration camps, types and crosses the blood, and harvests their organs? Quite a few companies that build for Jeeps build at least some of their products in the US. To name a few:

• Revolution Gear and Axle
• Rock Hard 4x4
• Dirtworx
• Warn
• Rigid Industries (also Truck-Lite)
• Genright Off Road
• KC HiLites
• Undercover Fabworks
• Poison Spyder

It's been said, but I'll repeat......weight, weight, weight. Be conscious of this when adding a bumper or anything else. It all adds up, ultimately negatively impacting the Jeeps performance.

Here's my previous frame width UCF bumper, with hoop and aluminum winch plate. It weighed a total of 24 lbs.

I actually prefer the de-jugged stock bumper, and you can't beat the price. If you want to fancy it up, you can get the end caps for @$20.

My heavily modified steel Motobilt stubby is about 35lbs. As delivered, should be close to 30lbs.

I always liked my old Warn, protects the OEM fenders and slides over rocks when needed (nothing a little spray paint can’t cover up).

just stay out of fender deep mud holes and you’ll do just fine.

For what it's worth, there is no finer bumper than the Savvy bumper. Aluminum, minimalist, weighs less than 10 lbs. from what I can tell, and it looks damn good too!

Just looked it up, bumper alone is only 30lbs.
$349.00 w/o Fairlead or winch mount, which I don't need. Not a bad price tough.
Putting the Jeep in the body shop next Sunday to have the grill (OEM) replaced/painted ($650 OTD, I'm supplying the grill) from where the deer messed it and my bumper up last summer. Then I'll be looking at getting a new bumper and I'll be going with the stubby because of looks.

One of the things I like about this design is how the bumper and d-ring anchor point placement maximizes the approach angle. I'm also a fan of the minimalist look!

That's shipping weight I believe. I can tell you with 100% certainty that the Savvy bumper without any options DOES NOT weigh 30 lbs. I am so sure of that that I'd bet anything on it.

I need @mrblaine to confirm this for me then.
