Hello,

Searched the forums found out it can be the solenoid pack. This might be something I can do but I’m wondering it doesn’t end up being the solenoid pack is there a company for rebuilt transmission that you guys can recommend ?

Local shop highly recommended
Is charging about $300-$500 to change the solenoid pack. Which is a great price but to rebuild the quote was $4k.

So many companies online selling remanufactured but reviews are all over the place.

Transmission was working fine. I pushed the pedal to the floor for a fast acceleration and the jeep didn’t go anywhere. Transmission hesitated then it went. The code came up right after. This morning I reset the code. Drove fine on the street with no issues. As soon as I got on the freeway passed 60mph I got the code again. Lost acceleration and seems like the trans in stuck in 2nd gear. 40mph 3k RPM.

This weekend I’m going to change the fluid and filter and check for metal particles on the pan.

Took the jeep for a second test drive.
It was driving fine, shifting as it should, I was at 50 mph then I had to brake. While braking the jeep sort of shuddered then the code came back up.

While manually shifting gears it seems the trans is stuck in first.

In first I get up to 40mph 3000 rpm when manually shifting to second the RPMS don’t change.

42RLE, 2003 was the first year. The 46RLE was used in the Durango or something.

Replacing the solenoid pack is pretty easy....way easier than it sounds, probably. Drain the fluid, remove the pan, unplug some stuff, disconnect the shifter linkage, unbolt the valve body. It's just one thing, it only fits one way and short of not torquing it down properly, there's not much you can do wrong in removing/replacing. The solenoids are on the top side of the valve body, nothing to it. I don't know how much the parts are, but the labor ain't too bad. For me the bigger hassle is dropping & replacing the skid.

I haven't spent much time studying the operation of your transmission so I can't offer much in the way of diagnosis, unfortunately.

But yes, doing a flush & replacing the filter is a great place to start. See if there's more trouble than just electronics.

Had the 0750 code on my '04 Grand Cherokee.
It would also go into limp mode.
I replaced the solenoid pack, and it took care of the problem.

This is probably limp mode.
Does resetting the code clear the problem (temporarily)?

I dropped the pan already no metal particles on the oil pan.

The fluid is really dirty.

I want to replace the solenoid since I’m already half way there but I can’t get a mopar one by Sunday.

Replaced the fluid and filter. The code is still coming up.

Time to replace the solenoid pack.
Should I get a new valve body to?

Can I drive the car limp mode? I wont able to get a mopar solenoid pack this weekend.

I take the street to work so I wouldn’t be going anymore than 40mph

You can- I would only do it if I had to and not rev it.

Might make sure the lines aren’t blocked -

You need to go ahead and go down to the driver side of the transmission and really check the connectors and wiring before you get too deep into it-

At this age it is common for these to have a fried loom and wire/heat damage seems to be discussed more and more.

I believe limp mode is meant to allow you to get to a shop when things are broken. Not meant to keep driving on it when things are broken.

That said, I'd hold off for a new Mopar unit if you can. I got mine on eBay after the reman version failed on me right away. Hopefully you don't have to drive very far or can avoid driving it until you can get the replacement in.

I will double check tomorrow.

Shoot I may have to take a Uber to work all week.

110 miles if I drive the jeep all week. Which is my only transportation right now.
