Paint job ideas

Ok. I'm resurrecting this to ask specific questions regarding process. I am doing an LS swap and my engine bay/hood is pretty much stripped. I have decided I want to paint it, it's my first paint job and if I screw it up, it's under the hood. If it looks good, it will make my new LS look great installed! I'm looking for a guide to actual steps, below is what I think, please opine. I plan to go to an autobody shop to get gun/paint/filler/plastic cloth/sand paper/etc, I already have compressor.

How to paint under hood/hood
  1. remove fenders and hood
  2. wash all parts with car soap
  3. tape all areas you don’t want painted
  4. sand down with 230 grit
  5. sand down with 330 grit
  6. bondo/filler any dents/chips (follow process for sanding down to get smooth surface)
  7. wipe down with wax and grease remover
  8. spray 3 coats of primer
  9. sand with xxx grit
  10. tack cloth
  11. spray 3 coats of base coat
  12. tack cloth
  13. spray three coats clear coat

Get everything clean before you mask off or the water and such will destroy your masking job. Clean and prep are the most important. Anything done after a bad prep job can't make up for it.
