In the original Ride of the Month thread I promised that I would explain the pic that I posted after the votes. I honestly didn’t want any emotion involved in the voting which is why I didn’t post it with the pic. Anyway, this is the picture that I posted.

It’s so special to me because it was the last time my wife and I were able to take our dog Storm down to the lake. It was always a fun time to walk him to the lake and let him sit and watch the animals and take in the sights and smells. However, near the end of our time with him he was having difficulty walking so we drove the Jeep down and it seemed like a great photo op with him and my wife. His health declined pretty quickly after this trip, and we had to say goodbye to him two months later. My wife and I dont have kids and never will. Instead, we have our dogs. Storm was our first and was an integral part of lives for twelve years. He was even in our wedding. :)

I know how you feel mate...had 2 dogs in my life and both have gone now after having them for 12 and 14 years...I still miss them.
Kia kaha bro ... (native Maori language of New Zealand meaning stay strong)

Sorry for your loss. Pets bring so much joy and happiness to our lives, always hard letting go. Rest in peace Storm.

Thanks all. We have two wonderful labs now, with one starting to show her age. She's been through surgery and radiation therapy for cancer twice this year, so it's been tough on the whole family (That's part of the reason why it took so long to regear and get the lockers in the TJ. All the money went to her treatments). When we knew that Storm's health was in decline, we took in a rescue lab named Brady. We thought it would be best to have three in the house, so when we lost Storm the younger lab River wouldn't be alone. Ultimately, it was the right decision and we are getting to the point where we are thinking about brining in a third again.

That's tragic, I'm sorry to hear that. The good thing is that at least you have all the good memories.

Sorry for your loss. They really become part of the family and don't live long enough. We have 2 labs. One is 14 and doesn't get around well anymore. The other younger lab mix contracted heart worm disease 6 months ago and has been on treatment to kill them. $2k later I'm happy to say she is cured. We have to use a dog ramp to get Beau in and out of the jeep. He's a trooper!

Our hearts go out to you and your family. We have a couple of pups, and they are our best buddies. Our daughter and her husband have no kids, with no plans to have any, so we have a grand dog.

The little guy in my avatar pic was my Jeeping buddy for 12 years, he passed away a few months after I got my current Rubicon. I miss him every day.

You’re fortunate that you had your time with such a loyal friend.
