I am planning on getting a rim and tire package from Quadratec. Heck, Duratrac s and a set of rims is just $200 more than having a set mounted on my beat up corroded old American Racing rims locally. Has anyone had any experience with thier packages? Do they do a good job balancing the tires?

I'm betting you could as well if not better locally to better support your friends and neighbors. Most tire and wheel shops are only too happy to meet or beat online pricing. Not to mention better local support.

I see your point. The Goodyear shops here are a chain of about 20 in the area, I don't know if they are bigger. The rest of the shops are NTB, Mr. Tire, Tires Plus, all national chains. I had not thought about the local 4x4 shop. They are usually on the high side and backed up with work.

Funny, Tire Rack advertizes free shipping but gives a discount if you pick them up. Guess it's not really free huh?

If I don't use local shops, then Hibdon is the way we go. Good tire insurance, 6 months no interest financing, and I don't mind if my wife calls them back and shakes them down for $195 after the sale.(30 day price match guarantee)

x2 on Jerry's advice. I use Discount Tire here in GA, and they've price matched tires a few times for me, and then off up the lifetime balance and rotation.

Prices, at least for the tires, seem to be pretty much the same all over, but I still agree that going with a local place is better. If nothing else, your support will be better and you won't have to ship back anything if you need to do a return/exchange/etc.

Personally, I bought my wheels from Quadratec since I wasn't able to find the same style anywhere else, but I would have just gotten some from Discount Tire (where I got my tires) or somewhere like that.

Also, if you have USAA, you might be able to get a discount on the tires: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/fyi-usaa-has-goodyear-discount-25-off.25008/
