Radio grounding strap location

Hey, I took the original radio out as part of my dash tear down on my 97 Jeep TJ Sport, and at the time I pulled out the ground strap that was attached to it as well. I'm putting everything together back but can't remember the location where the grounding strap is attached to the jeep.

Does anybody have any idea? I read in another forum that there is a bolt up under the windshield vent trim piece, but I haven't been able to find it.

A picture would be worth a thousand words.

Found this thread for an 02 TJ, looks like it's behind the instrument cluster.

I'll try and take a look tomorrow to see if my 97 looks the same.

Not exactly sure where the ground strap was attached on your '97, but any place on the metal support structure behind the dash board should be sufficient.

On my 97, the ground wire for the stereo goes to a screw that is behind, above, and a little to the right (passenger) of the stereo. It's right under the long "grille" piece that covers the upper dash AC vent. Hope that helps, and will see if I can take a pic later.

But yes, any nearby part of the tub would work, so long as you have a good metal-to-metal connection.
