OK so this is dumb (wife told me so) but I wanted to see if I could drive directly onto my property from the road instead of using the driveway shared with the neighbor.
The answer is no. At lease not without making bad ruts.
The old lady riding by in the blue subaru dropped her jaw on the floorboard staring at me
Wife was not at all amused. Good news is she strongly encouraged me to go up the mountain whenever I feel like I just have to go jeeping.
I may try again when the ground dries out and firms up. Maybe if it hit it at an angle...

Try one whole jeep width to the right.

It's steeper, but worth a try. At least with a straight shot I could bump it without running into the trees.

Finally got a little snow! Nothing challenging but it's pretty!
Not as much snow as I was hoping for but it was pretty. Stopped here to eat oatmeal.

Huh. There's a new milepost right in between the tracks I left in my yard a few posts back. What are the odds?
Took the dog for a rid. Found a more snow but had to go farther up than I planned.
Came across an entitled douchenozzle on skis that wanted me to not use the road as he worked hard to make ski tracks. He said the gate was closed up top and I'd have to turn around anyways. I questioned him about it because it was completely open last week and this road stays open to everything year round. I told him where there's groomed xc trails nearby and he snapped "I've skied all over this mountain I don't need you to tell me" so I drove right off without another word.
Made sure to go to the end and crossed the plow piles.
The Mexican family that was going sledding watched and cheered and gave me big
Headed back and told thee guy the gate was open and this road stays open to cars and got, "It's not actually. But I don't want to focus on that, I want to focus on my gratitude that you avoided my tracks where you could, and.."
I drove off without letting him finish. He sounded like a kindergarten teacher addressing a kid who cut in line. I've never had a grown man talk to me like that. I've never even seen a man address another man like that.
Still a good day and nice drive.

Yeah I didn't try very hard after that. Of course the tracks he was making were in the tire ruts from before the last snow
