Rattle noise during acceleration

Hi everyone! This is my 2004 Jeep rubicon (automatic)

We need your help. I made a little clip showing my Jeep but I added the audio file so you can hear the noise.

I put my phone under the steering wheel by the pedals. I hear this rattle noise when accelerating. When I’m going over 25 mph the noise gets more prominent after 30,40 above.. but disappears when cruising at any speed.

I went under the jeep shook everything, everything is solid. I never heard this noise before this is officially 1 year since I got the jeep.

I brought it to my mechanic he Ofcourse didnt hear it. But I drive my Jeep everyday. Doesn’t sound normal

It does sound like something loose and rattling. I had a similar noise after driving in the snow for a week. It mysteriously went away a couple weeks later?

Any part of the exhaust loose, maybe a broken male piece that connects to the exhaust hanger. Sounds like something is loose.

I’ll check in that general area. It is definitely a front end noise. I appreciate it!

Ah, how about the track bar, possibly loose? I know you mentioned you checked everything but what if you lift the front end off the ground and then shake it up? Possibly with no weight on the front suspension it may reveal something.

1st, that is a stupid clean Rubi. Very nice...

2nd, it sounds like torque converter to flexplate bolts rubbing on the dustcover.

pull the inspection cover and check rhe bolt heads for wear.

the dust cover is aluminum, the bolts are steel. If they are rubbing the bolt heads will have an aluminum buildup on the top of the head.

If that is the case you may try tightening the TC bolts...


If that doesn't help, drive it to Oklahoma. Bring the title...

I can't guarantee that's the issue but it sounds like mine used to and there's no way to be sure without checking it out. There's a couple threads on here discussing it and what to look for with photos.

Don’t rule out loose catalytic converter media.

I have a noise that sounds like metal slapping against eachother. Happens easly at startup in first or second. After going down the road bumps will make it sound but not as loudly. It sounds like it its right in frint of me near the firewall and uo near the hood but I cannot find it so far. I have elliminated many possibilities, schocks, sway bars, etc
