Rear axle not aligned on one side

That's essentially a 33" tire. With your 4.0 engine and 5-speed transmission 4.56 would be a much (!) better all-around ratio that would produce ideal highway engine rpms.
I hear you, but for what I use it for, the gears I have now are fine. 4.56 would be nice but cost more for the pair. Hoping to just find a good 3.55 rear. Will see

If you find that the axle is bent, and it probably is the problem. I would take it to a big machine shop and have them straighten it. Any shop with a big press can do it. I could do that in my shop if it was mine. You can do it with a I-beam and a porta power

yes, but cost maybe more thn just getting a straight axle assembly

Front a part out 06 TJ, I was able to find, and picked up a decent set of dana 30/35 regeared with 4.88
Will inspect it more over the weekend. Will need a good set of break shoes kit.

Is this a bad choice to run 4.88 gears with 33" tires? And yes I drive on the highway.

I rear on here that 4.88 with 33" and high is no good.. why is that? Curious

Ready to start taking the axles down to install the 4.88s. Also found a cheap set of 35s tires. Is it necessary to upgrade to bigger brakes when running 35s??

When working as designed, rear drum brakes are fine. It's the front brakes that provide the vast majority of the braking. This is due to weight transfer from the rear to the front during hard braking.

👍🏻. Wll look into the big $$, big brake upgrade down the road, unlesss ya all agree that i will die without them or that my oem brakes wont stop 35s at all.

Stock brakes and 35’s are fine … right up until the moment they aren’t.

If the big brake kit is too much of a stretch, I have heard that going with the BMB pads on the stock setup helps.

Will the stock brakes stop 35’s? Sure. Will they stop you in time to avoid the kid that just ran out in front of you? That’s the real question.

It kills me when I hear folks say that they can get by on stock brakes with 35’s or 37’s because they drive cautiously. That’s not how real life works.

Noted, big $$ brakes will be needed.
For now I will run a set of power stop Z36 pads, rotors, new calipers, news lines I have laying around. Never got a chance to install the kit, so now it will go on.
Z36 always do me good.. I run them on my f150, much heavier truck, day n night big difference in braking.

Wll run them until i can brake the bank with the big brakes kit.

315/70R17 is that size consider a 35? That is what I will be running.
