Rear coil bucket relocation

Hello! I'm new to this forum and TJ/LJs. I just picked up an 06 LJR with a lift. It appears that my rear coils are bent because of the bucket location. I'm thinking I should relocate the buckets. If anyone has an opinion I'm all ears.

Pretty common for the springs to do that with a lift kit.

I relocated mine not too long ago. Went with Ballistic Fabrication.

There is lots of info about it on here if you search.

I did it to mine several years ago. It requires lots of cutting, grinding, and welding it tight spots and weird angles. Aside from that pretty strait forward. I would plan on a full weekend to do it.

I did mine with a metalcloak kit, I like to have parts ready when I start a project. When I got into it, I realized you can reuse the stock brackets after you cut them off carefully. I think you flip them side to side as one side is longer on the stock bucket.

I reused the factory perches. Kind of hard to get a grinder in to the welds on the top, an air chisel is handy.

The PO ran the coils like this for 4 or 5 years. I assume that getting the coils strait would improve the ride quality.

There will be no change in ride quality.

Agree - When you can. I was hopeful to re-use mine but once I got them out they were too far gone for me to trust.

I had the MC 4.5 kit and moved my upper brackets back to get the springs straight. It increased ride height a little. Maybe 1/2-3/4”. That’s about it. It’s a lot of work, had to lift the body to access the factory welds on the backside of the frame.

Shocks will help with ride, but only so much.

reopening this old thread as I recently changed coils, and noticed they are very very inclined. I have a 3" lift from Teraflex with Falcon 3.0 shocks.

I feel the rear very soft, very similar to before (which was the reason why I upgraded) and I start thinking that it is not working well due to the coil not working properly or "vertically".
to note is that the setup is too soft even with no spare tyre and no rear seats... so when I put the spare 37" inside and some camping stuff the problem becomes even more noticeable.

this "non verticality" of the coil might be the cause, or not? would it change if i relocate the perch?
or should I change the coils with harders/tallers ones?

The softness is coming from the shocks, not the coil springs being curved.

do you think so? cause I cannot feel the difference between fox 2.0 that were almost dead and the brand new falcon, so I tought they were not working at correct angle/inclination - which in reality seems correct.
this is why I watched closely to the coils, and started reasoning on that. my rear axle is also very very inclined to keep the transmission linear, maybe this is a problem too?

Springs create the ride height. Shocks determine the ride quality.

Pull the rear shocks and go for a short safe ride to see what the difference in ride quality is.

I would not have that hypothesis. Do the suggestion above and go for a drive without the shocks installed.
