Rear Pinion Angle 2 Degrees

Quick question, just installed my 3.5 metalcloak lift and tom woods 1310 shaft. The driveline angle is at 18 degrees and pinion at 16 degrees. Drove about 40 miles today and notice a little rhythmic vibration at 45mph. It goes away at 50 mph. Will 1 degrees from "optimal" (pinion -1 degree from shaft) cause rear vibrations?

Set it the same angle as the drive shaft, so rotate the pinion up, also check your front pinion angle too.

Yeah, was thinking under load it would even out but I guess a degree counts. I'll adjust it and see what happens.

You would be right on a lefspring set up, due to spring wrap, but a 4 link coil set up is designed to maintain a consistent angle, or change in angle, through its range of motion(arc), depending on arm length and mounting points.
So 2* off, is still 2*, yes moving the pinion 1* fixes it, but that’s because the pinion is down 1* and the driveshaft is up 1*, so moving 1* doubles the amount moved and changed the angle by 2*.

Update, got shaft to 15* and pinion at 14*, good to go. No more humming vibs

Great video. Thanks for the link. This was eye opening for me. I didn't realize the speed of the shaft would change like that depending on the angles.
