Rear Shock Mount Sheared Off

love it....I learn something every time I get on this site. So when you say cycle through the suspension, what or how exactly do you do that?

If at ride height half of the total shock shaft is exposed, then the shock is likely the right length.
How do you find out what the total length of the shock is to determine if half is showing? FWIW, I’m running rancho 5000x shocks made for 2-3” lifts. From what I understand they run long and many run normal length ranchos with a 2-3” lift

Look up the model number stamped on the shock body on the rancho website where they list the compressed and extended lengths. Then do the math.

Alternatively, remove the shock and measure the compressed and extended lengths yourself. Then do the math.

Ok so if we’re using RS55241 numbers....
Compressed 13.51
Extended 21.67
Travel 8.16

How much exposed shaft of the shock should be showing to be ideal?

What is half of 8.16"? That is about how much shaft should be exposed.
