Does anyone have any feedback on the RT off-road steering kit(see link) https://www.rtoffroad.com/heavy-duty-steering-kit.html

It’s listed on offer up for $25 I got him down to $5 brand new it’s $210. This is what he has on the ad
“Its brand new but with a problem. I installed it and crossed the threads and 2 ends. Brand new was almost 200 bucks. Maybe u can re thread the 2 ends that are bad.”

I can replace the joints if worse comes to worse. Or should I hold out for the Crown HD steering kit but for $5 it doesn’t hurt to have extra jeep parts laying around.

He cross threaded them? Ummm... pass.

How are you going to get that to work if he cross threaded them? Tap the ends? If he stripped the ends out, how will new tie-rod ends fit?

What am I missing here?

Go with Moog. The Crown kit is iffy I hear.

I’m assuming he cross threaded the part I have circled. Thought it would be an easy fix to replace the ends if that’s the case.

But the more I think about it I’m just going to hold out for the crown HD steering kit than to mess around with the RT kit.

If he is willing to let it go for $5 then it must be really screwed up. Otherwise he would have just replaced the ends.
Steering and brakes are the wrong places to go cheap! Get the MOOG ZJ upgrade. And know when you turn left the Jeep will turn left also.

It's been several years, but the Crown HD steering I had couldn't have lived more than 10k miles. There must be a better option for ZJ steering.

Here are my Moog replacement parts. Just have one question is the XJ drag link the same as TJ? This is the part number for XJ DS1238 $58 and TJ DS1430 $88.

I will need two of this end ^

Not sure what was cross threaded but if it was the threads on the tapered pins, throw them in the trash. Normal ones are heat treated and always destroy the nut first before the pin threads are damaged.
