Rusted rear coil spring mounts: replace or relocate?

My rear upper coil spring mount plates are rusted out. I have a ca. 2“ Old Man Emu suspension lift. I’m wondering if I should just replace the mounts? or since while I’m already at it, should I do a coil spring correction? Like here:

(My jeep is already at the mechanics and I need to order the parts ASAP. They are not a Jeep specific shop but I have good experience with them on my other vehicles and their reputation is good.)

Curious for your thoughts!

Jeep is a 2001 sport 4 banger.

I'd just replace the stock mounts, if you can find some. Contrary to what the Rokman site says, the rear springs are supposed to have a bend in them. The springs act like progressive springs with that arc. With the 2" Old Man Emu springs that you have, your bump stops are still making correct contact. @Jerry Bransford? What do you think?

Well, the bend doesn't actually create the progressive rate...Progressive rate springs are would specifically to be progressive rate, either by changing the pitch or by winding a variable diameter wire. The bend WILL change the spring rate, but its much less gradual and controlled than a progressive spring. If you get too far away from pure linear motion, you can actually exceed the elastic yield point of the steel, and permanently deform the spring. You'll hit the bump stop well before that though. I'd actually think the retainers would give before you damage the spring.

If you do NOT have spring retainers, then operating the spring in an arc is asking to have one take off on you.

They said that they used to offer relocation kits but not any longer. They said that relocating only will help with the control arm length. @ Ranger_b0b that sounds scary, the thought of a spring taking off on you. I do hope I have spring retainers!? (I'm pretty new to Jeeps, so forgive my ignorance on not knowing what these are).

These http://www.artecindustries.com/Jeep_Wrangler_TJ_LJ are lower spring perches and go on the axle.

I have the Rokmen kit. They are saying with a lift kit, the springs are actually bending over too much.

That may be true in your case @lovemachine, but I doubt that the OME springs are arcing too much.

Lovemachine, just out of curiosity how do you like your'e Rokmen kit? I talked to them and they were very nice, but they don't ship to Austria. I'm going to get the stock ones from Quadratec.

Looks like you're questions have all been answered but, completely off subject, I noticed the wear pattern on your tire and it looks like it has been run quite a bit overinflated. Much higher wear down the center of the tire than on the sides...or, at least, on the inner side that can be seen in the pic. I suspect you will be replacing it/them soon but I just wanted to point that pattern out and what causes it.

Hi DizJeep. Yea, those are pretty well worn out and were overinflated, too. I'm getting new tires soon and will be making extra sure that that does not happen again. These were blizzak snow tires and they worked realy, really well here in the mountains on the ice and snow. I will be getting those again for the winter season.
