The catch is you really have to be sure you are engaged fully or you're going to give yourself a false starting point so to speak.

I’m really hoping that’s the issue. Sometimes it will go in 4L but you could tell there’s a small amount of space that it can still go back. Thanks

In my case, I needed a little more lever travel than I was getting, limited by the slot the lever travels in. I used a dremel and file to give me a little more lever travel on the 4Lo end of the slot. I have the '05 Rubi 6 spd so might be slightly different than others.
