Should you get a heavy duty fan clutch?

Wow great timing. My 2771 I replaced a year ago seems to have shit the bed and is on full engagement all the time now, so I will replace it with the severe duty

This time I’ll get the tool for the job instead of holding the pulley with a bunch of ratchet straps

I tried an air hammer for the first time when I put mine on, like I’ve seen recommended here. Super easy.

I had the 2771 on for about 3 years with no issues as far as engine cooling. I doubt you will either if the rest of your cooling system is up to par.

The part numbers don't interchange directly because the change in the way it attaches to the water pump, but I had the version of the Hayden heavy duty that attached using the four bolt flange on my 99 and though I never had anything I would call a problem, i did find that my coolant temps would spike for a bit when idling after a highway run, in very hot weather. I could idle all day and never break 205, extended uphills at interstate speeds might see 208, but if I came up on traffic and stopped, it would jump up to about 215. Still low enough that I never felt like I needed to do anything about it, but curious nonetheless.

My 06 will creep up to 220 both idling and on the highway, if it's 95+ outside and I'm running the AC, but does just fine if I idle up with the hand throttle or stay under about 55mph.

Is an extra volvo electric fan installed from grill side is bad idea? We have +40 celsius days (dont know in freedommeters) and huge trafficjams as bigger trucks overheat on uphill driving

Interesting. Sounds like I’ll need to use my OBD code reader thingy and check actual temps on a really hot day. Weirdly lower than normal temps here in SC for July. I usually hate July and August here and try to stay inside most of those months. LOL

I don’t see a problem with installing an electric fan in front as a pusher for extra cooling capability, as long as it’s wired up correctly. Keep the OEM fan too though.

My 2791 was holding steady at 222 on my ob2 scanner this week on a 90 degree day idling with the ac on max. My oem one was allowing it to creep to 230. One you rev thr engine the temp will drop quickly with the 2791 clutch.

All of this still looks like 210 on the factory as there is that much of a "dead spot" in the factory gauge temp reading

I’ve used mine with the 2771 and I don’t recall ever getting higher than the 215-217° range. I have it in the center console of the Jeep and will try to remember to install it and see what I get on the way home from work tonight.

Well, it was only 85° when I left work at 8pm. Highest temp I seen on the Dash Command app was 212° with A/C on max while sitting at a red light. The needle was still on the far right side of the dot above the 210° mark on the instrument cluster gauge. While driving, the app showed 199° for the lowest temp. The needle was just barely on the left side of the dot above 210° on the instrument cluster.

I’ll have to wait for a really hot day to see if I get a significantly higher temp.

I replaced everything last summer in my 05 LJ. Everything Mopar, except thermostat, water pump (Gates premium) and fan clutch (Hayden 2791). I wasn’t necessarily having issues, but a few years before I started driving it, my son and I replaced the radiator with an Autozone POS that was leaking after 5k miles.
The Hayden clutch does roar when cold, but quiets quickly. The needle on my gauge does not move past the center setting, ever! Even with the satan’s butthole heat we are having!

you're still driving yours? :ROFLMAO: Mine only comes out before 10am and after 8pm. Tomorrow's gonna be a burner!

I’ve determined my 2771 I installed a year ago is definitely bad, I’m gonna replace it with a 2791. Anyone know if Hayden has a warranty? I can’t find it
