Just wanted to send a shout out to Jerry Bransford. I just bought a 2001 4.0 with an NV3550. Gears crunch every time you shift. After following his advice here, (swap the manual transmission fluid with Redline) the crunch is gone! Thanks for saving me $1500!!

I had the same experience with my NSG370. Bought the car in 2018, shifted okay. Swapped the fluid with a generic synchromesh (I think Pennzoil) and boom, instant synchro issues. Swapped with Royal Purple, with some improvements. Swapped with redline MTL, instantaneous improvements.

I was occasionally popping out of gear and also occasionally getting stuck in gear with pennzoil synchromesh. not one single issue since switching to redline.
