Spare tire carrier or tailgate mount?

Have you thought about something like these. They weight of the tire rides on the bumper but attaches to the tailgate for easy opening.

The Exo looks pretty solid once I saw that it ties in to the rear rollbar mount. The only thing I don't like is the tire sitting up so high / blocking the rear window. Is it really noticeable or is it just how it looks in the picture?

Yes, ok, I wanted to get a lock.

I figure someone have to be pretty bold to steel my spare! I’ve never had a spare tire lock personally.

I've used a cable lock on my spare tire and jerry cans. Thread it through the tire's wheel, through the jerry can handles, and then lock it up with a keyed lock between the swing arm and the tailgate.

By the looks of it, you can easily do something similar with the Exogate.
