Speedo gear size

Hi, I put 33's on but dont have any idea which gear size to install for speedometer. 36? 39? I dont know even what size stock one is. Thank you for help

In addition to the tire size your axle ratio is also required to determine the required speedometer gear tooth count.

I just bought a 31 tooth for 50 bucks it is still in the package I didn't even put it in yet nor open it, and I am re-gearing to 456. I just bought it a week ago and they will probably charge me a restocking fee to send it back. If you need a 31, I will sell it to you for 50 bucks, and I will cover the shipping. but you need to figure out if you have 3:73 gears or it wont work for you.

I re geared my axles from 3.73 to 4.88 and my speedometer is only off my 3-5 miles an hour. Is it worth changing my gear or based on the amount off do you think 4 wheel parts put a different drive gear in

I just changed mine, pretty painless and its nice to know how fast I'm going without doing math.

No way did 4WP bother to change your speedometer gear unless you told them to and they billed you for it. For the small cost and 5 minutes it takes to replace the speedometer gear to get your speedometer accurate again, yes it's worth it.

Yes I have 3:73 gears but as Jerry said above that needs to be taken into account like your saying. I did not know this as I too am going to change gearing soon. So I need to wait. I learned by asking

No worries. Mine with 3:73 and 33's is about 5 -7 miles per hour slow. So if you can live with that till you regear that will save you 50 bucks. Plus at least it is not faster racking up fake miles on the odometer. But if you change your mine it will probably be sitting on my shelf. All isn't last though my girlfriend has a TJ with a 3 inch lift and 3:73's but she has 31;s so if she decides to go 33's I will have a gear on the shelf for her.
