Alright. So I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ 4.0L 5-spd. Now, Im new to the wrangler however I decided to replace the valve cover gasket on it, due to the fact that I could see a small oil leak at the rear of the valve cover. I thought that this would be an easy job, but clearly I must have messed something up. Prior to replacing the gasket I had no problems whatsoever with the idle or acceleration. Now, after the install of the new gasket, when I slowly push in on the gas pedal the engine rpm's drop suddenly, and will stall the engine completely if I don't immediately let off. The only things I had to remove during the install were two lines on the top of the valve cover itself, and then the actual valve cover. I thought that it may have been something related to vacuum, and I checked the tightness of fit with the both of the lines I had originally disconnected and they seem to be secure. I even sprayed some brakekleen around them while the engine was running to see if I could hear a change in the RPM, but I didn't hear anything. Is there something I'm missing here.

There's a number of things around that area. I'd check ground connections for one, vacuum connections as well, and the lines going to the PCV valve as well.
Have you scanned it with an OBDII scanner? Is it throwing any codes?

Sorry I can't help you on this. It seems like I removed or moved most of the engine bay out of the way on my 05.
